Opposite, I compliment him in person. We pretty much just joke around in texts and send photos of the crazy things we run into during our day (from our son and the animals we work with- there's never a boring day).

If I was super nice and lovey dovey in a text, he'd think someone stole my phone ;) We're just not that kind of couple.

I had this realization the other day! I'm better at expressing myself in written (typed?) words than by mouth so I don't think its so bad. I am affectionate and nice to DH in person but sometimes it helps to text him or leave him a note telling him how much I really appreciate him.

I think our texts are mostly about logistical stuff, like "can you get me a bagel" or "don't forget the yogurt" when one of us is at the grocery store, haha

ETA: we both work at home though, so we usually only text when we're apart for short periods of time, like at the store

oh yes! i think it's because i miss him when he's not here so i just get all these lovey dovey feelings that i want to express. but when he's home, we're either so busy or he's done something to annoy me ;), that those feelings aren't at the forefront of my mind.

and dh is the same way. he works nights and is always texting me the sweetest stuff. i tell him all the time "you're way nicer when you're at work" haha.

@Beyond2: Oh wow, yep. I was thinking this exact thing yesterday and felt guilty. I text him a couple times a day saying I love him, etc....but when we get home I'm not quite as complimentary. I actually made a point yesterday of telling him I was proud of him for doing X thing, but yeah, I need to work on that!!

I find myself sending my husband messages when he's at work about how much I love and appreciate him and his hard work and how thankful I am to have him as a husband... but I just realized I rarely say this stuff to him in person. I'm not sure why this is, but do you find it is easier to compliment your SO when they aren't actually standing in front of you?
