I'm currently on the 2nd rung, and I hope to move up (from a Library Specialist II to III) next spring. I'm currently working on a Master's degree that should allow me to move either to a supervisory position or (and this is my hope!) to a real 'Librarian' position that would mean my salary would double or triple. This position doesn't exist but my boss discussed it with me before I left for maternity leave. </p> <p>This would mean a raise but maybe not what I should get paid for the responsibility it entails. I still have 10 month before I go back to work so things might change until then. Then the next position would be my bosses. He would love for me to take it, I on the other hand am not so sure. I have been working towards a national position for the past couple of years and there has been a lot of progress being made. Hopefully it will come to fruition. I have a good job now, with a decent salary, but the national position could lead to a significant pay raise down the road but would also likely entail additional travel. DH recently took a more local job with more flexibility so I could pursue future job opportunities.
