It's 4 small copper beads attached to a string that is actually stitched to the inside top of the uterus. It's supposed to eliminate the bad side effects of paraguard without using any hormones. As far as I know, one women's clinic in my city is the only place in North America it's available, since they're doing the official Canadian trial of it. I was between that &amp; the Mirena but I loved that Paragard was non-hormonal and that it lasts up to 10 years. The periods are beastly (I'm on mine now) but the 99.9% security against pregnancy (we're almost positive we're one and done) and not having to even think about it is worth it!
