They have a 'new members coffee' in a local park every Tuesday so I'm going this Tuesday morning. I have gone to those types of events and found people very, very welcoming. It seems easier to get to know people when it's a smaller group in a more intimate setting, like someone's house. That being said, I imagine it is sort of hit or miss... but I have had good luck. Maybe it's worth a try?</p> <p>ETA: I started to go to meetups in peoples homes when my LO was about 2 months old. So, I'm kind of confused as to whether this is just a clique within the group or if they actually want "randoms" to join??? The few events that seem to be more public are like meeting up for swimming or skating. I just went on and applied to become a member. I've thought about trying to join a group on meetup before but I never bit the bullet. </p>
