Even with older children there are just some places I want to go that are just not "kid friendly". Right now, we have a trip to Brugge planned for for Labor Day weekend 2012. We are debating whether to bring a nanny with us to assist, but will definitely have the LO there. We travel regularly and I want our LO to grow up traveling. My husband's extended family (and his parents for half the year) live overseas so we'll try to go visit every couple years. We didn't take a honeymoon, so our only vacation together was to Chicago in February in 2009. After the wedding we bought our house and got pregnant (both within 2 months! eek!) so we never got around to a honeymoon. Other than that though, we plan to travel with DS and any future kiddos. I really believe that family vacations can be some of the most wonderful times together. LO will have 3 sets of awesome grandparents that I trust completely to fawn over them and spoil them, so I don’t feel badly about planning to leave them sometimes for vacations. It is important for us to have time away as a couple, too. We trust my parents 100% to watch her. If they couldn't watch her, then we would definitely take her with us. In my opinion, it is easier to leave her now when she is young and won't remember it. Plus, she will not get very much out of the travel experience. But once she is older, I cannot wait to take family trips. We traveled a lot, and not once did they vacation without us. Even as grow ups they take us on vacation with them when they can. </p> <p>My hubby's family also went on vacation together, but his parents would occasionally do an adult only vacay. </p> <p>So naturally he thinks that we'll be doing that too.
