We both want a different set-up than we had. My husband was an only, and would like exactly two. I was one of two, and would love three. We both want to add one!

My husband and I both come from a family of three and right now we're both saying that we'll have either 2 or 3. So, who knows. We could potentially recreate it. I loved having 2 siblings, but obviously I don't know anything else.

I'm the oldest of three, and my husband is an only child. We both agree we want at least two, and no more than four.

I am only child, and I definitely want 2+ (assuming everyone is happy/healthy/etc.). I do not care which gender.

My husband is 1 of 2 boys, and wants at least 2, preferrably both boys.

I'm the youngest of 4 and I always wanted 4 or 5. My husband is the oldest of 2 and he wants 2 or 3. I'd like 2 or 3 now. 35 is right around the corner and I'm too old for 4 or 5!

Yup, we're on the 2 or 3 plan - I was one of 3 (and like the idea of 3 kids), while my husband was one of 2 (and wants 2 kids). I figure we'll see how it is after having 2 kids!

I think we'd like to have 3. My husband's family had 3 kids while I was one of 4! 4 is just too many for me, but 3 sounds pretty good!

Hubs and I have talked about having two or three children. We both grew up in families with two kids, but I don't think that's why two seems appealing to us.

Not only am I worried about spreading my love and attention too thin, I'm scared that if we have more than two children we'll struggle financially.

Who knows, though. Our plans could definitely change!

We're on the plan of "2, maybe 3" right now. We'll play it by ear once we actually pop the first one out! Both of us come from families of 2.
My husband's sister (who was 7 years older) died (followed closely by his parents) and before his dad died, he told my husband that he wished they'd had another child so that my hubs wouldn't be alone. Which I think is very sweet and sad... I think my hubs sort of has that in mind with thinking about having 3.

I don't know the mom's birth order; I'll ask her next time I see her on the playground. I'm the third of four, and the younger of two identical twins.

All that said: the #1 thing affecting my decision is that I'm too darn tired to survive another kid!

We're planning on having the same number of kids that we grew up with. We're lucky that both myself and my husband grew up in a family of two children, so we're on the same page there. Obviously things might change as we start TTC and actually having kids, but that's the plan!

I wonder if it depends on where you were in that spectrum, whether you want to have the same number of not. Do you know which one that mom was out of the four kids? And where did you fall in your sibling order, Mr. Bee? Do you think that affected your decision to only want two?

I was talking to a mom over the weekend, and she said that she wants four kids (!!) because growing up, her family had four kids. Meanwhile her husband only wants two kids, because his family had two kids.

That's funny, because Mrs. Bee has mentioned before that she wants two kids just like she had growing up. Meanwhile, my family had four kids but I have no desire to have more than two.

Where do you fall on the spectrum: are you having the same number of kids as your parents did? More? Less?
