You take injections for 4 days which boost your white blood cell count, then you get hooked up to a machine for a couple of hours that takes your blood, spins out the plasma and gives you back your red blood cells (and saline, I think, to replace the volume). I've been registered as a donor since college. One of my college friends died after a bone marrow transplant last year (he was the recipient, he had leukemia). Before his operation his friends organized a marrow donor drive because he's Asian. I would encourage everyone to become a donor.. It's really easy! They send you a swab and some paperwork and you just have to send it back.</p> <p>Eta I just looked it up and couldn't find that send in service without having to pay..
