His mom met his step dad when he was about 3. His dad passed away in 2011.</p> <p>One reason I think he's great for ds is cause they have that similar thing...I met dh when ds was 3, and dh has been great with him. He understands how it is to go between 2 parents house better than I ever could. They divorced when he was 6 due to infidelity (just like mine). I have to agree and say that coming from similar backgrounds has really made it easier to understand each other and what we specifically want from our marriage. He had put her into bankruptcy twice during their marriage, lied through all that time about money (how do you live as a couple and not have a conversation about money), split up happened 8 months before our wedding and BAM she moved in with us. They only just finalized the divorce and he doesn't help her at all. He's a pathological liar, he plays with peoples minds. My DH's parents are divorced. We have a similar background. My DH's dad was an alcoholic and abusive. Except way more abusive than my dad was. They got divorced and my MIL fled the country to get away from him and came to the US with my husband when he was around 10. </p> <p>I think our similar backgrounds have enabled us to be on the same page from the beginning in how we want our kids raised. </p>
