There were really only two good friends that I stayed in touch with for quite some time afterwards. Unfortunately, we've since grown apart and are just on very different life paths. We're FB friends and casually talk there or via text every so often but that's it. Her mom had a stroke and I wasn't there for her. I was 8 hours away and had never dealt with severe medical stuff. After her initial refusal for help I didn't know to be there for her. I was caught up in my own 21 year old life. The next time I called she hung up on me. I think her mom had passed away at that point but I didn't hear until three years later. I've tried to apologize several times but she never talked to me after that. She lived out of the country for 2 years, and now lives in another city 3 hours away, so it's hard to keep in touch as much. Sadly, she made questionable life choice after questionable life choice, and in the past year, it came to a point where we just had to let the friendship go. I honestly just wish her the best in life, but realize being close is relatively impossible.</p> <p>I am, however, still best friends with my two closest buddies from college.
