I always knew (I guess theoretically) that moms and dads would love their children unconditionally. But i never really knew what that would be like, until I had my own. It's one of the biggest eye-opening things about having a child. Sometimes I marvel at how much love we have for our son in the short 2 years he's been part of our family. Sometimes I feel bad because I wonder how I could love another child as much as I love him! But I'm sure I will. What surprised me was how long it took to bond with him like this. I loved him from the start, but it took him to start smiling and reacting to me to really deepen that love (about 2 months).</p> <p>They certainly are like video games, the more you play with them the more levels you open up- both in their skills and in your level of love.
