I am the master! Ever since I figured out that hormonal birth control was not for me I've been tracking my period...so for the last seven years or so. It changed postpartum but me keeping track of my cycles helps us have babies or stay baby-free

My cycle has always, always been super regular- 26-28 days. However about 2 months ago, I had a 32 day cycle, & along with some crazy, unusual symptoms (sore breasts, cramping, etc), I was convinced I was pregnant. Not so much, although since then, things like having sore breasts for almost half of my cycle is becoming the norm! Boo! :silly:

I've started temping and charting, and that's really doing a lot for my knowledge of my cycle- I had always assumed that I was O-ing, but never had any proof. I now have a chart that has a temp rise following a little dip around CD17, so it's good to know what is going on!

If I'm not KU this cycle, I'll still be super happy just to discover more information about my luteal phase, as that's another part of my cycle I never knew about! Charting is really helping me to learn so much!

@Espion: That picture would have been really appropriate. I'm really into the idea of women's cycles being similar to the lunar cycle. (It's the hippie in me). When was E born?

@HolisticMama: When I clicked, I half expected the picture to be something like this:

http://animatedviews.com/wp-content/uploads/archives/She-Ra.jpg

I was really regular pre-pregnancy without really knowing or appreciating that fact. I still haven't had working lady parts since E was born. Is it bad that I passed by a display of tampons in Target and thought, "I wish!"????

I totally understand the length of my cycle and my approximate ovulation date. But I don't really ever have symptoms of anything. I just feel normal all the time. Except for when I have random inexplicable anger but I suspect that is caused by other things....

So as it turns out, I have no idea!

@HolisticMama: HELL NO!
My cycle does what it wants, when it wants, and it doesn't give a crap if I want to get pregnant or not. My cycle runs my life, not the other way around. D***ed cycle knows not the meaning of consistency.
End rant.

I have irregular cycles but it usually goes like: long follicular phase, very obvious ovulation signs, regular 14-day luteal phase. So even though I can't predict exactly WHEN I will ovulate, I always know when I AM ovulating and then when I can expect AF. I feel like I have a good enough handle on my cycle.

ETA: I've always been able to tell when I'm ovulating. As far as I can remember. So once I counted days after ovulation I realized it's always 14 days to AF - figured that out within the past year or so.

I'm not regular, but after 3 years of charting, I feel like I know my cycle pretty well. It occasionally surprises me with a super long and wonky 60 day cycle, but I can usually tell that it's going to be a long one if I pay enough attention.

I've found it helpful to just assume that my cycle is wacky and be pleasantly surprised when it's not :)

my cycles are super wonky (26-100+ days), but now i still know when i O even without checking CM or position- your estrogen rises before your LH surge and it makes my face breakout really badly, then i have bloating/cramps pressure (not severe like PMS, but enough for me to notice), and then on O day my boobs are super sensitive. even when we've taken TTC breaks & i have no idea when O is going to take place because they're irregular & i'm not checking CM, i can tell when i've Oed and AF shows up 2 wks later. it's kind of awesome (as in i'm in awe of the whole process, not awesome as in i love breaking out and having weird bloating)

When I was TTC it took me 4-5 cycles to "get it", when I started charting and paying attention to cervical mucus and position.

Even with that it still took us 10 cycles to conceive, and another 3 to conceive our son.

Now I don't know what my body's doing, but I have an IUD, so that's pretty expected.

I was literally just thinking about this. I have never been on birth control and have tracked my cycles for a few years. CM is my big sign of when I'm ovulating. I think my LP is about 16 days. I have slightly irregular cycles, but that is based on when I ovulate.

I got pregnant the first try going off of just that knowledge, so I'm hoping it will work again.

Even though I don't like the pattern, last month I would have said I am pretty good at gauging my cycle. This month however all bets are off. I decided to try vitex be because I keep spotting starting at 8 dpo so I decided I had nothing to lose. Turns out I was wrong, I have no clue if or when I ovulated. Fertility friend is totally bewildered too, it keeps giving me cross hairs (on different days) and then taking them away.
