I totally ate junk food when pregnant..I was so sick that if something sounded good I went with it. I looked forward to delivering so that I could do more, but I'm BFing so I still can't take most cold meds, drink a ton, etc! The things we do for our babies :)

Yes, I would love to take some better drugs to get rid of this cold. Sleep on my stomach and have a huge glass of wine. Most nights I don't mind not drinking, but with holiday parties coming up, I am sad that I am going to be the lone sober one.

Oh man, I totally ate junk food when I was pregnant! I didn't mind giving up the wine then, but I am the saddest girl now that I'm breastfeeding. I just want to drink two big old glasses in a row!!
Also, it's probably good to get used to feeling totally responsible whole you're pregnant. @irene: is right (although these sweet babies do have ways to make up for their complete neediness!)

Oh boy, I'd love a glass (bottle) of wine right now!! I've not had a drink for almost three weeks (since my BFP) and I can honestly say it's the longest I've been sober for since I was 18!

@shopaholic: My baby girl love sweets, too! I decided on a Coke Zero instead of an apple earlier so that's 2 strikes for soda and artificial sweeteners. What are you gonna do...

Love all my fellow wistful winos on here! Ugh! Came up to meet DH at the ski lodge for lunch and instantly hit with nauseau (even still at 26 weeks!) I already had a Coke in the morning (bad mommy!) And DH gave me a Butterfinger candy which actually helped the nauseau A LOT! Baby Girl has a major sweet tooth! So yeah, IDK how many strikes I've already hit today for being not a very responsible baby host!

@tororojo: I unabashedly wake him up. :) I figure if I have to deal with this, so does he! Hah. Unfortunately the frequency of my insomnia has led to nighttime anxiety and panic attacks which only prolong the cycle. So in reality, I need him to help calm me down.

@aprk: Regular kind here also...I would stick with that unless you hear a good reason to go for the naturals, just because you can be pretty confident it works well and is safe for pregnancy!

@aprk: the regular ones. The doc said not to get the gel ones. Just 'unisom sleep tabs'. I did not see a natural option so I just got the one the doc described. It's a small blue pill, really easy to cut in half.

@LazyLightning: @aprk: I take half a Unisom when I really want to sleep and it works well without leaving me groggy in the morning! Usually if I pop one about 30-45 mins before bedtime I fall asleep pretty quickly. But I still wake up to pee. :)

Only every damn time I eat. My early glucose test is abnormal - I'm only about eight weeks along - so my OB's advice is to avoid white food and sweet things, basically all empty carbs until we can look into the whole GD thing further, but sometimes, that's really all I want to eat!

I'm sure the whole "constantly responsible" for another person thing won't end even after the baby so maybe this is nature's way of telling me to get used to it now.

@aprk: I definitely feel the same! (Totally not the same as having wine: but my doctor told me unisom sleep tabs are allowed. It does work alright but if you take it on a week night it's hard to wake up for work (groggy)).

I guess I'm a bad mom already because all I eat is crap. But I can't keep down anything else so if baby wants food, baby gets potato chips. Like @shopaholic, I feel you gotta do what gets you through. It's been a really awful 7 weeks of food aversions and M/S (all day sickness).

P.S. BOY am I ever a wistful wino. ;)

OMG yes. I miss not having to worry about how I'm laying in bed. I miss being able to eat whatever the eff I want (and I have GD, so doubly so). I miss being able to do pretty much anything without somebody grabbing it from me and insisting that I shouldn't be doing it. I can do (most) everything non-pregnant people can do -- just slower! I feel like an invalid. Grrr.

@chopsuey119: @Adira: Haha...I do splurge on junk food, but all the time! I will eat dessert, then have an apple, then have a soda, then have carrot sticks...I don't really think my "balancing out" approach is very healthy, but it could probably (maybe?) be worse.

@autumnlove: @aprk: I would love to drink too much wine or something else festive! We are going to some friends' house for dinner tonight and I bought a bottle of sparkling cider to bring, which is not quite the same. I would love the freedom to ingest whatever I want.

@Mrs. Tricycle: @irene: @jedeve: That's a good point about random things like painting or everyday hazards...sometimes when I smell fumes from something I wonder if I should run the other way! But I don't think it's possible to avoid EVERYTHING that could be hazardous.

So many responsibilities as a prego!

Yes, I totally agree. I want to have a few glasses of wine and pass out. I won't, and I know it's not healthy even if I weren't pregnant, but I am desperate for sleep!! Even the crappy drunk kind ...

But yeah, a soda and some junk food once in a while probably will do more good for your state of mind than harm to the baby. Hang in there!

I'm tired of my husband worrying about everything I do. Can you take Tylenol? Can you change a lightbulb? Blah blah blah. I'm grateful for the support and accountability, but I'm tired! I doubt it will get better breastfeeding since then he can see the little bundle I'm potentially harming with every bite of food!
