NO way. I never thought about marriage/weddings/etc. Even through my dating/boyfriends - I always said that there was no next step because I had no plans of getting married until I was 30+. I figured that my 20s were all I had to myself, so after getting out of a on/off again college relationship - I focused on starting my career, QT with friends/family, and dating for fun. Little did I know that I'd come across DH at the tender age of 23. I love that our relationship progressed the way it did, because I was able to live on my own and jumpstart my career throughout our dating years. We got engaged when I was 26 and got married when I was 27. Here I am at 28 with baby fever on fire... it seems so normal now, but if you told me 10 years ago this is where I would be... I woulda said you were crazy! :)

Sortof. I knew I wanted to get married young (I got married at 21 to my high school sweetheart). However, I thought I'd wait at least 3-5 years after being married to have kids. We got married in June and we are going to start TTC in April. I'm now 22.

Nope! I thought I'd be married and have a kid by now already.

I just got married, and am sorta waiting on the kid. I never thought I'd marry someone who already had kids. DH has 2 and they come with a sort of psycho mom. Never saw that coming! Other than their mom, I'm pretty happy with the way my life has turned out. Hopefully we have our kid on the way within the next year.

i never fully imagined what my life would be like at age 31 - if someone told me a decade ago that I would end up with the man I would marry I'd say they were nuts and needed to fine tune their crystal ball methods. DH and I went to the same high school and in the same class but we ran in completely different circles. He was, shall we say, a social bee (ok, he partied... a lot), popular, and really really cute. I was so the opposite of the social spectrum. Funny how life works sometimes and how wonderful it ends up being.

My life turned out exactly how I wanted it to but two years late. The order in which things happened was spot on, though. I'm 30 years old now and I thought I'd have my 2nd kid by now but I'm only on #1, but that's fine by me!

Ten years ago I had just turned 13. I knew that when I grew up I wanted a husband and a family, but I didn't know when I wanted them. I think my 13 year old self would be very surprised to know I was already married and lived across the country from my home town.

No, but its better than I thought. I didn't have a set life plan, but I had a set career plan. As it turns out the career took back seat to having a life, and I prefer that now when before I would have considered that failing.

Originally I had plans to take out hundreds of thousands in student loans and get the professional degree and specialize, instead I stayed at a technician/nurse level and am able to work less and stay at home more.

I have realized that success is what you make of it and different things make different people happy. You can't judge someone else's choices, only your own.

I dunno. Its hard to say because I was a very different person at 20 than I was at 25, or than I am at 30 (now). It was important for me to spend my 20’s on *me*, building a career, finishing my education, finding out what I really wanted/needed, taking my time to find a partner and build a super strong foundation with him before getting married or having kids. So, some of the stuff I wanted at 20 when I was new to the adult world and being on my own isn’t stuff I would want anymore, and timelines got shifted as I lived more. I always did think I wouldn’t have kids until well into my 30’s (and maybe not at all), so that’s happened a little younger than I would have expected.

I guess, if someone told me at 20 that at 30 I’d be married, a home owner, good career, stable home and pregnant, I would have believed them; but the journey here was different than I guessed it would be.

In middle school I did a life timeline.
2002 graduate HS (check)
2006 graduate college (check) and get a job (nope - went to grad school)
2007 get married (was still in grad school)
2008 have 1st baby (was graduating with MSW)
2010 have 2nd baby (was planning wedding/getting married)
2012 have 3rd baby (am happy with ONE baby, the next is not even being though of yet).

I think back then I thought I would turn into an adult at some point and everything would just happen almost magically. As if I'd morph into a wife and mother, rather than have to grow into the roll myself. It's harder at times than I thought, but also so much more rewarding than I could have imagined. I didn't realize that the thought of having a second child would scare me so much. I want a big family, but can't imagine being able to split my time and attention on two or more kids (though DS is only 8 months old, so I imagine in time it'll feel easier).

No, 10 years ago I was married to someone else. Living in VA and being a SAHM on a military base. So, if someone would have told me that I would be divorced,, had another bad relationship,, had a second child and then would meet the love of my life and merge our family together and be living in WV. I would have told them they were insane.

Well, 10 years ago I would have just started college. So really I would have had no idea where I'd be in 10 years!

But I probably would have said I'd be in the same place I am now, only I'd have one more kid.

My life is nothing like I thought it would be. Never thought I would be married, never thought I would have kids, never thought I would still be living in my home state, never thought I would own my own business (figured I would stay an exec forever). It's crazy how things turn out. I'm so happy though, I couldn't imagine it any other way now that I'm in it.

Yes with the exception of my career and being divorced once. Totally thought I would still be in the Military. But being seperated due to injury was not forseen or in my control. Previous marriage...well...lets just saw for health and safety I am glad I got out. I always knew I wanted to wait longer to have children. So on track with that at least.

I am not where I thought I would be. If someone told me 10 years ago that by this time I would be living in Idaho, married, have a 3 year old and one on the way I would have looked at them like they were absolutely nuts and not listened at all. I would have been 8 years old. I used to say I would never get married or have kids. Never say never. However I am more than glad to be where I am at, God has blessed me so much by giving me my family.

Haha! Great question! I never thought I would have put my medical career on hold for anything. I thought by now I would be a doctor and would be working at a cancer hospital and working on a cure. :) I figured I would be eating pasta every night trying to pay back my loans. Instead I fell in love while in residency and left before I was finished. It is crazy where life will take you :)

I think I am where I thought I would be. Except I thought that I would be done with school by now, and not only 1/2 way done! School is taking a lot longer than normal but that's because I found a job that I work at full time, so I can't go to school full time anymore. I thought though that I would be ready to have children by now, but DH and I definitely aren't!

I have always wanted to get married and have kids. But, 10 years ago, if you would have told me that this is what my life would be like at this age, I don't think I would have believed you! The married life and kids is awesome, and I would have been happy with that, but I would have figured I would have a good job and we wouldn't be so broke :) I also wouldn't have thought that I would be thinking about going back to school at this point in my life, I would have figured I would be done.

What about you? Are you where you thought you would be in your life? If someone told you 10 yrs ago that this is what your life would look like, would you have believed them?
