We have friends who earn about the same but have no kids so it seems like they make more than us. It has made things somewhat uncomfortable at times, but in general it hasn't made a difference to friendships. It us hard when we want to do something or go somewhere expensive and can't find anyone else who can afford to do it. We fall into the very comfortable range but that hasn't, luckily, affected our friendships. Sometimes people will make comments about how my husband's profession pays such good money or how we have xyz which really annoys me because they have no idea how much he makes, how we save our money, etc. We can spend more on things we enjoy because we don't spend money on things like alcohol and sporting events. Most of our friends are from college which will put you in a similar bracket. We def have some friends that re better off and some that are less well off though.
