I actually do not know any friends who are breaking up... Most were married after us though, so it's still fairly early? But I don't foresee them breaking up....

One of DH's friends married in his early twenties and is now divorced. The ex-couple did not have children and seem to be friendly. All of my married friends are still married, most do not have children.

I noticed in the last year that a lot of my married Facebook friends were breaking up (early 30s). Some had kids, some didn't. One of my BIL's just ended his marriage last year too. So sad.

My BFF is nine years older than me and you she got married at 25 and divorced at 27. But it was for the best and she's now happily remarried with two awesome kids. None of my friends close to my age (28) have divorced.

We've had several couples we know split & it's very sad. One couple in particular had been married over 10 years & had one child. Remaining friends with both can be tricky (especially after both parties move on) since we always have to watch what we say in regards to the other party & also be respectful of both.

I haven't had any marriages end, but a few years back we went through a wave of close friends in serious relationships or engaged breaking up. It was really really emotionally challenging for my hubs and I bc they were CLOSE friends, so it oddly felt like we were going through a break up too! Only advice I have is to just ride the waves with your friends. We tried to commiserate with each friend and let them talk things through, while maintaining that we loved them both and wanted them to be happy in end.

I know two different couples in their 30's who divorced within a year of having their first child. Sad...but also probably for the best in those particular situations. They are all very involved in the babys' lives.

Our old good friends (DH was close with him and I was close with her) got divorced 6 months ago. They're 27 and 28. She changed completely and became a party animal...which is sad because they have a 3 year old. He wasn't faithful to her...but since he has stepped up as a dad at least.

While we know of some halves of couples that have been through divorces (prior to us knowing them), it's only this past month when a couple we are friends with announced their separation. It was very sad :(

A very good friend of mine is divorced now, they separated when their kids were 3 and 5-ish. Theirs wasn't due to a breakdown in the relationship, but rather due to one of them recognizing that they are gay.

Two of DH's friends are also divorced, they are siblings and the whole family have a lot of issues (psychological and with addiction) so I think that is the root cause of the breakdown of both of those marriages.

no but thats because we're young and all of our friends are younger than thirty... I honestly cannot foresee any of them splitting!!

Actually I do have one friend that is divorced and she is 25 or 26, thankfully no kids are involved.

Most of my married friends are still together. Only one couple is divorced. Both of our parents are divorced so we both are very familiar with it. 3 out of 4 of our parents are remarried and have been in long-term relationships so it's nice to see that there's still a belief in love & marriage.

Im in my early 30s, and we just learned that a couple we are friends with separated this fall. They have two kids under 3. We know about another couple with no kids that separated this summer, and another childless couple that divorced last year. They were all married 4-6 years. Does anyone else have married friends who are splitting up and know how to handle it? Both DH and I have parents who are still married, so divorce is something we are not very familiar with.
