Between Wagon Sr. and myself we only have 1 grandmother left. My maternal grandfather died when my mom was a little girl so I never knew him. Her mom, though, is the surviving one-- she's still very much here and active. She spent her whole life raising grandchildren (including me when I was little) and now she's finally living in retirement in elderly housing and having fun.

My paternal grandparents both died when I was in my 20s. My dad was youngest of 9 so they were both quite old-- both in their 90s when they passed.

Wagon Sr.'s grandparents are all gone, all when he was much younger. It's really cute to see him with my grandma because he gets so excited. Whenever we're going to see her, he gets dressed up and breaks out his Korean. He was really close to his grandma growing up and he really misses her.

Nope - my maternal grandfather/mother passed away when I was 4 and 11, respectively. I never met my paternal grandparents.

Hubby's maternal grandmother is strong and healthy. Love her to pieces.

I have one grandparent on each side still living. My grandma is 91 (sidenote-her identical twin also lived to a couple weeks before their 91st birthday). My grandad will be 94 in July.

DH has three sets of grandparents who are all in their late 60s and early 70s. They're all alive and doing well. I'm really thankful for this dice my grandparents probably won't be around long enough for my kids to remember them or maybe even to meet them.

We each have one Grandmother still alive. Mine is in decent health and we're planning a trip to see her in November. His is not in decent health, at all. She's pretty far gone and doesn't have a very good quality of life at all anymore. They're both in their 90's.

I only have 1 grandparent left (grandma). My maternal grandpa passed away in the late 1960's, and my paternal grandpa passed away in the 1950's. Not sure exactly when my paternal grandma passed away, but I don't remember ever meeting her.

My grandma is 90 and in a nursing home. She has mild dementia and is often "out of it" but she is SUPER excited about LO and always asks my mom for more updates, which really makes me feel good!!

My paternal grandparents died when my Dad was 8 yrs old, so I never knew them. My maternal grandmother had a massive heart attack one afternoon and passed away immediately. My maternal grandfather was diagnosed with terminal cancer on her 1 yr anniversary and died 3 months later. I miss them every day.

My maternal grandmother died long before I was born. Both of my grandfathers died before I turned 5. My paternal grandmother is still alive, but she lives several states away and rarely travels. If/when LO meets her, we will probably have to travel to her.

DH's maternal grandmother and grandfather live about an hour away from us.

I still have both of my maternal grandparents. They're in their mid-late seventies and we see them at least once a week. My paternal grandmother is still going strong in her early 80's, but since she's in NYC we don't see her very often. I think she's coming to visit me this summer to see me preggo.

DH has lost all but his maternal grandmother. She's in her mid-80's and still sharp as a tack.

So many of you are so lucky to have most or all of your grandparents. I only have my maternal Grandpa still with us, and as sharp as ever at 94. All of my husband's grandparents are deceased.

@cyneswith: Sorry to hear that you are dealing with a grandparent with Alzheimer's. Both my paternal grandma and grandpa had it, and it is horrible. My grandpa just passed away last week, and although it was sad, it was a relief at the same time.

I only have one blood-related grandparent left alive. My maternal grandfather died of a massive heard attack/stroke/fluid in his lungs when my mom was 19. My maternal grandmother and step-grandfather (the only grandfather on that side that I knew) both died within the last 5 years. They were both in their mid-80s.

My paternal grandfather died when I was 10, two days shy of his 80th birthday. And my paternal grandmother is still alive, and she is 87. And she has had a "boyfriend" for almost 30 years but they never got married because their grandchildren live on opposite sides of the country and they each wanted to stay near to them. But he has been around my family longer than I've been alive. And I call him grandpa. And he's still alive too :)

All 4 of DH's grandparents are still living, and still pretty young.

I lost both of my grandfathers before I was 5 (one at 2, the other at 4). Coincidentally they were both 66 when they died. I was always jealous of my friends' relationships with their grandfathers because I didn't know what that was like.

My paternal grandmother passed away almost 3 years ago when she was 94, and she lived independently in her own house until she died. She was the glue of our family - still hurts to think that she's really gone.

I still have my maternal grandmother - she's 91. She's had some health issues lately, but she still lives in the house my mom grew up in, and she's doing great for her age.

Both of my parents are from large Irish Catholic families, and are the youngest (or close to it) so their parents were a bit older by the time they were born.

Whoops and I should mention that DH only has his maternal grandmother left, both of his paternal grandparents passed away before we got together, and his maternal grandfather when we were dating. His grandmother made me a beautiful embroided table cloth that was gifted to me with a note from her for her grandson's future wife, it was so touching, I wish I could have met her!

Wow! You all are lucky to have grandparents still around! My paternal grandmother died at 46 before I was born. My maternal grandfather passed away when I was 8; paternal grandfather when I was 17; and maternal grandmother when I was 20. I'm only 28 now, but they all passed away in their 60s or 70s.
My husband's grandparents have all passed away, I did meet his maternal grandmother, she was 93 when she died. Hubs is 36 and his parents are older - 74 and 65; while my parent are both 54. I would give anything to have had more time with my mom's parents, we were really close with them.

of my grandmothers, i was closer to one when i was growing up but now we don't speak and the other i've never been very close to. we see each other a few times a year and i love her as much as you can love someone that you don't have frequent contact with. maybe someday my other grandma will speak with me again, she did the same thing to my mom & only spoke to her after my brother was born, so maybe having a LO will get her attention, lol

I have a step-grandma that's 92, but she has dementia and isn't really aware of what's going on. She knows that I'm pregnant, but can't remember much beyond that and starts panicking that no one is looking out for the babies (even though we tell her they aren't born yet).

All my grandparents are deceased, sadly they all died fairly young, I got to know them all well except my mom's dad who was only 2 when he passed at the age of 54.
I was lucky enough to know 2 of my great grandmothers who lived into their 90s.
