night: average for toddler (24months). nap: below average. We're getting 1 hr-1 hr 15 min for naps for the past month or so. Ugh.

I think he's average to slightly above average at night time. And above average for naps.
But some (maybe half) parents I talk to IRL can't believe how well he sleeps day and night.
His newborn sleeping was definrely average Id say. 3 hour stretches, maybe an occasional, blissful 4-5 hour stretch. We did minimal sleep training around 4.5 months and he's sttn ever since (now 20 months), except for the expected disruptions.
His napping has been great but I put in a lot of work up front for that (not holding, staying in for every single nap, connecting sleep cycles, etc). Since probably 2/3 months (it's shocking how much my memory of his infant days is starting to fade) he was napping for 1.5-2 hours for each nap. Now he takes 1 nap that's 2-3 hours.

As an infant below average. We had to do sleep training at 6mo because she refused to sleep at all anywhere but my arms and after 5 days it was getting unsafe for me (she wouldn't sleep on me in bed, I had to be sitting up. So I didn't sleep). Then she slept on me for naps until like 14 months. She also didn't STTN until 14 months.

Now as a toddler I think she's pretty average. Sleeps 11-12 hours overnight and naps 1-2 hours more days than not. She does skip her nap every few days but its not really a huge deal to me.

My LO has always been really, really high sleep needs, but now that she's 3.5 she definitely sleeps less than she used to (10-11 hours overnight, naps are almost nonexistent)

When she was a baby, it was not uncommon at all for her to sleep until anywhere from 10am to noon, and then take a 4 hour nap in the afternoon, and then go to bed at 8 and sleep all night and do it again the following day.

DD1: Below average. Way below. Didn't sleep through at all until she was 25 months and, at almost 3, is still waking up once per night a few times a week. She was a terrible napper as a baby - 30 min naps at best, then grumpy all day from tiredness - and quit her last nap before she was 2.5. From 1-2, for an entire year, she screamed for 2hrs a night at bedtime - and was impossible to sleep train because screaming made her vomit. Seriously, the kid was a nightmare.

DD2: So far, she's an above average sleeper. At 6 weeks, she is sleeping well at night, giving us a good stretch of anywhere between 4 & 6 hours at a time, and goes down easily after her one night feed. She struggles to settle in the Moses basket during the day, but naps well in the sling, the pram and the car. I really, really hope she continues this, way.

Above average, I think we've been pretty lucky with her sleep overall. Most of the time when other parents are discussing infant and toddler sleep/wakeups I feel like I need to keep my mouth shut. Wakeups are a very rare occurrence for us. Unlike my friends with 2- and 3-year-olds who are still keeping them up randomly for hours in the middle of the night - I can't even imagine.

Below average, I think. Night sleep is decent. She slept through the night from 2 months to 5 months, and now at 8.5 months wakes once to nurse and then goes back to sleep. But naps. Her naps are crap. A good nap day is if she naps for 40+ minutes from 7 am to 9pm.

I'd say he's probably above average. Not exactly magical, but pretty damn good. His night time sleep was tough until we sleep trained at 7m. Then he started sleeping longer and longer stretches, and we naturally night weaned and by 9m he was sleeping 12 hour stretches every night with only the occasional wake up for sickness.

His naps have always been pretty long and consistent too, which was great. But it is hard to get him down. Night time used to be really tough too, he'd get really upset when we left. But once he's asleep, he's fantastic.

Before the age of 1, he was a terrible sleeper. He never napped much longer than 20-30 minutes and did not STTN until just after he turned a year.

Now, he's freaking amazing. Naps 1.5-3 hours a day. Sleeps 11 hours at night all the way through and we don't have to do anything to put him to sleep. We just read him some books, put him in his crib, and he just rolls over and goes to sleep.

DS1 - above average. As a baby, he was a unicorn magical sleeper. He was sleeping 11-12 hours by 2 months old, with no wakeups. To this day (he's 3.5), he's only been up at night maybe 5 times in his life, and he was sick for all of them. If I could guarantee that any future kids would sleep like that, I would be ok with having a ton of kids lol

DS2 - average. He sleeps well at night, though has has a lot more night wakings. Teething disrupts his sleep, as does growth spurts (they never bothered DS1). His naps are hit or miss....they're either 30 min or 2 hours with no warning which kinda day it will be.
