I thought my first was a pretty chill guy until I met his little brother. My youngest is very easy going, although when he gets worked up, he goes all out, but he's also a red head and has a temper unlike anything I have ever seen in my oldest. He's always had to be more patient since I usually deal with the needs of my oldest first (get him a snack before I nurse, baby takes a nap while we are out and about, etc).

They have many similar characteristics- the same bad dance moves, they walk the same way, get into similar trouble (although my second much, much sooner) but they also have differences that I can attribute to either my husband or myself.

No real coping with the newer baby, but it was a rough transition on my oldest and took some adjusting, but a year in and they are getting to be good buds. He really was a missing piece of our family.

They're pretty opposite! DD is slow to warm up, doesn't like attention on her, calm, even-keel, sensitive, delicate/gentle, observant, and cautious. DS is rambunctious, super expressive, affectionate, happy-go-lucky, aggressive/rough, and full of energy. DD is like DH, and DS is a lot like me. It's kind of scary how so much of personality can be genetic too.

Anecdotally, most of my friends admit they're complete opposites to their siblings. My sister and I included. It's really rare for me to encounter sibling pairs that are similar!

Mine have very similar temperaments so far. They're 20 months apart (28 and 8 months old). Both pretty calm and were both easy going babies. The toddler went through a terrible twos phase but seems to be mostly back to her sweet self most of the time.. Our baby is more active than our first tho. He loves crawling and getting into anything messy. And he's definitely more of a people person than our first. But yeah their temperaments are really similar.

Pretty different. Alice is outgoing, extroverted, likes to be center of attention. Blake is shy, takes longer to warm up to new people, prefers to sit back and watch things go on. Alice is very much like me (especially as a child), and Blake is just like DH. However, they both have a mischievous streak. They're both "performers" or little hams, to an extent, liking to make people laugh and smile. One difference that's already very evident is that Alice's moods can swing quickly, whereas Blake is very even keeled. That's just like DH and me too.

Great minds! I was just thinking of a similar question to post. I feel like I see more people saying how different their kids are and was curious if anyone had kids that were more similar especially if they were closer in age.

My girls are fairly similar. #2 is a little more cheerful and outgoing, but she doesn't have as much responsibility as big sis :)

In terms of temperament, etc?

Or are they totally different?

Just curious what others have been through. Was it difficult to cope with having a totally different baby, if your second/third/fourth/etc was different than the first/others?
