Dad found out recently he has early signs of diabetes. He cut out carbs, started walking miles a day and still plays golf, as much as his back will allow. He and mom are always up doing something. She wakes up every morning to exercise and generally keeps herself busy - sometimes too busy. DH's parents are also pretty healthy. They can garden for days without breaking a sweat, whereas DH and I would be huffing and puffing with back pain for days after. No one smokes, hardly ever drinks and they all keep fit. They are both obese. My mom has all these issues and my dad is an alcholic and a smoker, among other things. My inlaws are.
