My parents are proud of me because they're my parents, not because I've done something really selfless and brilliant. I mean, I am able to take care of my family, we have a decent standard of living, I have an advanced degree, etc, but I haven't contributed to the betterment of society as a whole.

Yes, my mom always comments about how blessed she is for us all growing up to be well rounded women and how proud she is. It makes me feel good for sure!

I used to wonder a lot. My mom is a driven career woman and My sister and I are both SAHMs. I felt like she might think we were not meeting our potentil Just the other day she told me she was proud of our choices and our lives. She said we were both strong woman who do what's best for our family and are wonderful moms. It's good to be praised by your parents.

My mom tells me she is, or rather states sentences that allude to that. For instance, she feels "comfortable/relaxed" (there's a Chinese term for it so I'm literally translating) where I am in life and what I have accomplished, and can only hope my brother can be the same (soon).

I know my dad is proud of me, but he's never said it out loud. He does frequently tell me I'm his mini-me so that's a HUGE compliment and pretty much means the same.

My parents tell me they are proud of me all the time!! They have seen some of their friends struggle with problem children so I think they count themselves lucky that both my brother and I have been so successful personally and professionally.

@Mr Bee: That's so lovely, I'm glad your mum expressed how proud she is of you. It obviously meant such a lot to you.

My mum tells me every time she sees me how proud she is of me. I can't say as I've always been proud of myself over the years but, whatever decisions I've made in life, she's been behind me 100%, cheering me on from the sidelines. Now my life is 100% on track, I've got a great career, an amazing husband and a lovely house - and I think she's very relieved to finally see me achieving my dreams but, as far as pride goes, she was proud all along. I love my mum!

I think so. They used to tell me a lot when I was in school .... but not so much anymore, lol. But I do know my mom is happy with my decision to be a sahm because she did it and she always says that she's glad lo isn't in day care.

I think they are proud, but my older brother is a MD PhD and my sister is a vet..... I'm the entertainment at Thanksgiving..... but I gave them their first grandchild, so that has to count for something!

aww that is awesome!!

I think my mom is for sure. I completed my two year degree by paying for it all on my own, no loans or grants. Got married, had a baby etc... she is proud of me. She doesn't tell me all the time, but she makes it known.

I still think I have a long way to go though.

After I visited my parents this past week, my mom mentioned casually in an email that she and my dad were very proud of me. I must have read that sentence like 5x! I mean, I know they're proud of me but I worry about how I'm doing in life and whether I am measuring up. So the reassurance meant a lot to me.

Are your parents proud of you? Is it just assumed, or do they tell you on a regular basis?
