My dad has been trying to quit for as long as I can remember. I also lost my grandfather and aunt to lung cancer in my teens. In fact, my aunt defeated breast cancer only to die from lung cancer a few years later. My grandfather quit years before developing lung cancer, but still ended up having it. My grandmother also had a stroke which her doctors attributed partially to her smoking.
