I had a couple of rectangular couch type pillows that my SIL made me just for decoration that worked perfectly. They were roughly 9x18in, I'd either use both on the side I was nursing on or one on top of the armrest of the couch or chair. I had a small throw pillow that worked mazingly! It was like trashy zebra print but I wedged it in between me and the love seat and it was just the right size. I had an itsy-ritzy with my son. I also had a boppy. I liked them both and used whichever was closest, but my DH used the itsy far more frequently. It was easier for him (a 6ft tall, 200+ lb man) to slide the itsy on his arm before grabbing our DS for a bottle than for him to fumble with the boppy on the couch while holding DS. The itsy works well for both breast and bottle feeding (* My children were BF but needed formula supplementation).
