@cmomma17: I did that when DS was young (the paint in a plastic bag). He loved it!

what about the projects on Pinterest where the paint is inside a sealed plastic bag? All the fun of painting but nothing too eat!

@Cherrybee: great picture! This is definitely my kid if I just let him go wild!

Although he was actually quite civilized with his yogurt paint today:

@autumnlove: @ktdid23: great idea! I didn't have any food dye but mashed up freeze dried strawberries into yogurt and LO played with that in his highchair for quite a while! I called it pink "paint" and he actually ate very little of it, ha!

@Chuckles: @mauxie: I like the contact paper ideas, will def look into getting supplies for that. He eats dot markers too :(

What about putting pieces of tissue paper between two sheets of clear contact paper to make "stained glass." I like to cut them in the shape of butterflies. They look really cute hanging in the window and kids love helping to rip the paper. https://www.pinterest.com/yaomiao/contact-paper/

@edelweiss: you feel my pain then! My LO loves play dough but its just no fun when he is trying to eat the whole ball of it. yuck.

@prettylizy: what a cute idea! Im thinking I should do more food based projects so I won't be so uptight about most of it ending up in his mouth.

my LO is like this also. i started trying with him around 1 year old, would give up after seeing the eating, and try again in a few months. at 27 months now, it's not as much of an issue but to be honest my LO doesn't seem super into drawing, so i leave it to daycare. oh, and when we brought out play doh the other week he ate it so i'm not bringing that out again anytime soon.

Ugh, I'd really love to do more art and sensory projects with my 23 mo old but he still puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. He will sit and full on eat crayons, play dough and side walk chalk. We tried to do stamping today and he kept licking the stamp pads. I don't find this very fun as I'm constantly worried he will choke or ingest too much of this (non toxic) stuff, and I'm sure its not very fun for him to have me repeating "that's not for eating" over and over.

Any ideas?
