When my 3.5 year old holds the doll, it is about as long as her torso. I wouldn't be too worried about her being five, because if she wants to play with tiny babies that one would totally work! Personally as a kid I didn't like Asian looking dolls because none of them were cute and definitely looked nothing like me.. Just small-eyed versions of the more common versions of the dolls.
