Our daycare only serves snacks and I guess they are on the healthier end.

@T.H.O.U.: I like the idea of mimicking their menu. Altho that will will be a pain because right now she eats leftovers for lunch mainly like we do. Plus a fruit.

But that's definitely a better option than letting her eat their food. :(

Here is another thought, is there at least part of the lunches that isn't so bad that she could have? Certainly they are serving something healthy in there. Even if its veggies from a can, maybe that is the compromise to let her have those.

@littlek: I'm right there with you . . . I am so glad that LO's diet is so varied at school! She gets good options at home, but not the variety that she gets at school.

Do you think she'd even eat it? Sometimes my son asks for what the other kids are eating, but then he never actually wants it.

Our daycare has a full kitchen and chef and the food schedule is put together by a nutritionist. He eats better at school than at home. **hangs head in shame

@Smurfette: they are definitely not made on site. They don't have a kitchen of any kind. They post a monthly menu and we're not happy with the offerings.

We have a ready excuse "no baby it will hurt your tummy" and then he doesn't get it. Most of the time it likely has soy so we aren't lying. But we didn't give in and he gets our food only and probably will as long as he is still reactive to soy (so far he is).

But maybe you could find a least offensive day and make it a treat once a month or so.

That sounds about the right age. My daughter got in the habit of eating a muffin for breakfast.... ugh! At least our daycare makes them from scratch (well probably a mix) each morning.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Is there a way you could let her pick more things for the lunch box or follow the daycare menu but make the same types of things at home (for example, if they are eating a lunchable then you could pack your own crackers, cheese, and meet).

It's beginning. My 21m toddler is asking for daycare 's lunch. :(

We are NOT happy with daycare meals. They serve pre packaged, pre made, boxed food. This is not how we eat at all. Our boxed food is pasta and rice pilaf and that's pretty much it.

If you packed your lo' s food when did you give in and let them eat daycare food? What kind of food does daycare serve?

We already let her eat snacks at daycare and I'm not happy about that. They serve puffy cheetos , often, for God's sake!
