Thank you ladies! Aspirin therapy wasn't even on my radar so I'm glad to hear your experiences. I think one reason I was hesitant was because the whole appointment was so bizarre. She said "so you're still taking daily aspirin, right?" and I was like "uhhhh this is the first im hearing of it?" and she was like "well there's lots of evidence for it preventing pre-eclampsia, especially since it's your first pregnancy" and I was like "uhhhh it's not my first pregnancy?" like lady, are you even reading the right patient chart? 😳

I’m taking it for the same reason that you’re recommended it. I started at 12 weeks and am 33 weeks now. I’m 42. While I don’t know if it’s helped - my little girl is growing perfectly from what we can tell and I have no signed off pre/eclampsia so I haven’t worried overly much about taking it everyday.

@MoonMoon: I did for my second pregnancy (I was 35) - I had low Papp-A numbers in my first trimester bloodwork, and the OB suggested that might help with potential risks like pre-eclampsia, etc. I stopped taking it at 36 weeks and had a very healthy pregnancy and an elective induction at 39 weeks 3 days. Here's my thread asking the same question years ago: https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/low-dose-aspiring-during-pregnancy.

@Chuckles: I did the same - RE advised taking in first tri for recurrent miscarriage. Not age related, they gave me the impression it’s safe and might help so why not. I don’t know about taking it later though.

I took it for the first maybe 8 weeks or so of my last pregnancy. It was recommended by my RE because I had recurrent miscarriages, but there wasn't a specific reason. I think we were just throwing everything at the pregnancy :) She did recommend that I stop taking it when I had a small SCH around 8 weeks to prevent more bleeding, and then I never took it again. Also, I was 39 when I gave birth, but I don't think age had anything to do with the aspirin.

@MoonMoon: I had hellp syndrome with my first and so with my second pregnancy, I started it at 12 weeks. I had a consult appt pre baby #2 with a MFM specialist just because I was nervous about possibility of reoccurrence before we tried to conceive. She said it was very low risk in general and no risk to premature closure of pda like other NSAIDS. I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy with no issues of BP or protein in urine, although I did have PROM at 36 weeks, unrelated! I had just started the baby aspirin again at 12 weeks, but you know what happened at 14 weeks, again totally unrelated to aspirin or preeclampsia.

My sister had an IVF donor embryo baby last year and they also had her do baby aspirin. Sounds like it’s one of those widely recommended preventative measurements these days!

I took it it in all 3 pregnancies. I took it for a different issue though, I get superficial blood clots in my legs. But I had 3 healthy pregnancies otherwise. And healthy babies.

I’ve known people to take aspiring during pregnancy, one until 13 weeks and the second until delivery. From what I recall though one had a late term miscarriage and the other was fertility issues

Hello all,

At my check-up yesterday, my Ob said she'd like me to begin daily baby aspirin, as it had been shown to prevent pre-eclampsia, especially in older mothers (I'm 41). I came home and tried to read up on it and the evidence doesn't seem as solid as what she'd suggested. It seems it's also implicated in heat duct defects if used in the 3rd trimester. Other than my age, I don't have any other risk factors for pre-e.

Did any of you do daily baby aspirin during pregnancy? Do you have any feelings or experiences to share on the matter?
