I wore glasses but I don't wear contacts. I had them off during bad contractions but back on to push (I watched my lo's birth in a mirror)

I took rings off and all jewelry

All birth stats were written down officially

My induction was Unscheduled so bag wasn't packed; we kept having my parents bring more stuff each to e they visited since we forgot so much

Good luck!!!!

@twodoghouse: I went in with my contacts but brought my case, solutions and glasses to switch into later on. DH did as well

My rings still fit but I took all jewelry off at the reco of my OB. My hospital did not like you to have jewelry on. And I think it's safer to leave them at home and not have to worry about losing/misplacing it.

I would pack everything and leave what you don't need immediately in the car. Your DH can always go grab it later on.

They write everything down for you. :)

@twodoghouse: You're going to be so awesome!! Good luck!

One thought about the rings: you have to deliver in the OR, right? I'm wondering if they'll make you take them off. I don't know what that will do for the glasses, though...

We had a labor bag and a hospital bag. The only thing I would change would be to put the toiletries in the labor bag, because I showered before we moved up to the PP ward. DH just had to run to the car to get them before I could get cleaned up after it all went down.

You got this, Mama!!! :goodluck: :goodluck: :goodluck:

I packed a labor bag and a hospital bag because I intended to leave some things in the car until getting to our room on the maternity floor post delivery. We brought our bags with us which definitely made me feel a little ridiculous. I was in labor when we arrived and we had a valet park for us because ow. Then it was around 3 am before we transferred to the maternity ward so I was glad to have everything with us rather than have my husband going to the car at 3 am.

1. No input
2. I left all my jewelry at home
3. They wrote it all down on a little card, but you can have the nurses look it up because it will be in your LOs chart.
4. I packed a labor bag and a post-baby bag, but since we started my induction 2 days before LO arrived, DH ended up bringing both in.

@twodoghouse: First of all, I'm SOOO excited for you and can't wait to meet "A&B" :)

1. I wore glasses! I don't remember having any issues with them.
2. I didn't wear my wedding rings (and couldn't anyway because they didn't fit but I also didn't wear the stand-in ring that I had either). I personally wouldn't wear them.
3. The nurses wrote all of the birth stats on a piece of paper that stayed attached to my baby's crib so it was always with us and we were able to take it home.
4. I was induced and we left our bags (other than my purse and the camera) in the car until we were moved to the postpartum side a few hours after birth. I never missed anything but if we'd wanted something it would've been super easy for DH to just run down and grab it. It was nice to not have to move them twice.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

1) I don't wear glasses.

2) Wore my rings on a chain (they didn't fit) but I did wear them around my neck through delivery, forgot I had them there.

3) All stats written down everywhere, on the bassinet, forms, etc.

4) I was induced at 6pm and brought everything with me. It was a lot of waiting around, so I was happy to have my iPad, magazines, etc., and my robe & pjs for after he was born.

1. Wore contacts but brought glasses.
2. I had my rings on but that's because I went directly from a dr's appt to the hospital.
3. The nurses recorded everything.
4. We brought our bags in.

@twodoghouse:
So excited for you! My induction turned c-section, so that's where I'm writing this from.

(1) can't wear contacts or wedding ring if you have surgery and ( knew there was a good chance of that based on their positioning, so I left my wedding rings at home and didn't wear contacts.
(2) They will definitely record both babies stats. If you have baby books, take them with you and they'll usually even do the footprints right then. They even did that for us in the OR.
(3) I took my hospital bag when we went in the morning.

1) I wore my contacts. I can't see anything clearly without contacts/glasses and I didn't want to worry about pushing glasses up my face and wanted to see my baby as soon as he was born. I regularly sleep in my contacts (so bad, I know!) so the extended wear didn't bug me.

2) I don't remember what I did. I think I wore it? I never really take it off.

3) The nurses will write it down. It goes into the medical record as well. We got a little certificate with all his stats and his footprints.

**along these lines, bring their baby books with you if you want footprints in them. They will stamp the footprints into the book right after birth**

4) We packed a separate labor bag and hospital bag. The labor bag had snacks for DH, cameras, entertainment, the baby book, and necessities for DH. After we moved to our postpartum room, DH went and got the hospital bag (clothes for both of us, toiletries) and the boppy and brought them to the room. It was better than lugging all that around the hospital.

1. no input
2. No ring, my fingers were swollen, but they were even more swollen afterwards. I wanted nothing touching me either, so that would have included jewelry.
3. They yelled out the weight, but they wrote down everything else.
4. I had a labor bag and a hospital bag (which we kept in car.) I arrived at hospital at 6 to be induced and didn't get transferred to my room until 3 am...we left everything in the car until the next morning. I was too exhausted to even care.

1) i would wear glasses (i don't wear them). it was FREEZING in the room; i didn't break a very heavy sweat.

2) I would not wear my ring. Your hands may swell, what if you need a c-section....I wouldn't bring expensive stuff to the hospital. I wore a fake ring and they made me take off ALL my jewelry.

3) the nurses wrote it all down on the white board!

4) we brought all the bags in. Since our hospital doesn't transfer you to another room for recovery (they're all-in-one rooms), we just settled in for a few days

1. I wear glasses, but I think they may have been off while I was pushing? It is such a blur now that I don't think it'll matter to you, but I would probably stick w/glasses just in case your contacts got really dry and taking them out wasn't convenient.

2. I would leave them at home. I got super swollen from the I/V!

3. They wrote it down.

4. I think either way is fine. Maybe you could bring a smaller carry on with the essentials, and leave the changes of clothes and that kind of thing in the car until you need them.

I was induced and one thing I didn't realize is that you're pretty much stuck in bed the whole time once they start whatever method they're using b/c they have to monitor fetal heartbeat and contractions. So walking around, bouncing on a ball, etc. wasn't an option for me! You might want to plan entertainment around that if you think you'll want any. (I didn't want music and wasn't interested in TV, but I did play on the internet and do a lot of texting during that time!) Also, I would bring tums if you ever have trouble w/heartburn during pregnancy. All they let me have was jello/juice and it gave me heartburn right before pushing and it was a sad story!

2. My rings didn't fit since I was due in the summer (thanks swelling) so I left them at home.

3. The nurses wrote down the info.

4. I was induced in the morning and we brought our bags with us. When it was time to transfer from our L&D room to postpartum, they gave DH a cart to put all our stuff on it. DH made use of the pillows and blankets he brought while I labored.

1) I don't wear glasses.

2) I had to take my rings off at 32 weeks, but was wearing them on a chain around my neck. I was really sick during L&D and felt like the chain was choking me so I took it off and had D hold onto it until later.

3) It was written down for me in several places, including on a card put onto his bassinet and on all of his offical hospital records.

4) I was not induced, but we left a lot of stuff in the car. I figured if I needed it D or my mom could run down and get it.

2) Left them on, since they did IVs on my right hand. No problems.

3) Yes. I got multiple documents with that info, including a little card that they tape to the bassinet.

So I haven't done this yet (obviously!) but I'll give you my plan/opinions anyways :)

1) Glasses. I'm worried if I'm squeezing my eyes shut a lot during contractions it will irritate my contacts and the last thing I need is one more annoying thing. I also figure I might just labor with nothing for a bit. Honestly what do I need to see? They can give me my glasses back when LO is born.

2)I've thought a lot about this and I plan to take my engagement ring off and leave it at home but wear my wedding ring. My e-ring spins a lot still and is also a lot more (monetarily) valuable so I don't want to worry about it bugging me at the hospital. But I really want my wedding ring on because it feels like a good luck charm. I figure if it bugs me I can either take it off and put it on my necklace or I can give it to my mom to wear.

4) I'd just take in what you think you'll need for labor at first. I (re)packed our bags so I have 1 bag of stuff I think I'll want during labor/delivery and the important stuff for after. I have a second bag of extra stuff I may or may not want. Then all the pillows/boppy/blanket. We plan to just take in bag #1 for labor and have my husband and/or dad run out once we're moved to recovery to retrieve anything else we want.

1. Glasses
2. I wore my rings the second time but not the first.
3. The nurses will take care of that
4. We left bags in the car until we got to our PP room.

I want to preface that I was not induced.

1. Glasses all the way here too. I ended up with an emergency C-section and was glad to have them with me.

2. Wore my wedding rings b/c they still fit. EDIT: I gave them to my DH when I went into surgery along with my earrings since I couldn't wear any jewelry when I had the C-section.

3. The nurses will get the stats. They need the babies' birth weight to ensure that they don't lose too much before going home. Because my LO went to the NICU, they didn't get his length right away.

4. I went into labor at 10:30pm, but didn't go to the hospital until about 2:30am. We brought everything with us. I was glad too...there were things in my bag that I wanted while we were waiting to push after I got my epidural.

I was not induced but:

1. Contacts (my glasses are just not comfortable).
2. I had my wedding ring on a chain around my neck and left my engagement ring at home.
3. We totally forgot her stats and had a nurse look them up for us before we left the hospital. Part of the reason we forgot was that her length was recorded in cm. Not sure why, since we are in the US.
4. I went into labor early in the morning and just brought everything with me inside. The only time DH left my side was when I got the epidural (and he went to get some lunch). It was just easier having everything there.

1) I wore my contacts (daily) to the hospital and didn't even think about taking them out or changing them. I had them in for 36 hours or something before I took out for bed the night we had her.
2) I think I left my rings at home. Don't remember wearing them. I was only wearing one bad at that point ( some days none)
3)Yep! They wrote it down for us.
4) I wasn't induced but we brought everything with us. DH didn't go back to the car till we were ready to leave to get the car seat.

1- Definitely glasses!! My contacts would have gotten all dry and itchy

2- My hospital requires no jewelry in L&D so I left everything home

3- They put it on a card on baby's bassinet

4- When we went into triage we didn't bring anything with us. Once they checked me into my room hubs went back to the car and brought everything. Pillows, blanket for him, bags, etc. We then had to move everything again to the recovery room. But I was in the L&D room for about 10 hours most of which was over night so hubs needed his sleep stuff.
