Weddings in the NYC area tend to be a little more dressed up than most of the country anyway, and I think that one could go either way-- it's long and black, so dressy, but a loose flowy chiffon style, so not too dressy.<br /> And, I agree that a 6 pm reception is an evening wedding. Is the ceremony in a church? That's common with church weddings, where you have it in the afternoon but still an evening reception. Otherwise, I would wear #1, especailly if you aren't in love with #2. It's black/white (so it's formal enough) and it's short and fun (which is perfect for a 3:30p wedding). And juuuuust in case it's a formal or semi-formal event, at least the dress is black so it's not as casual as the first one. The knee-length black and white one could work, but in general, if you can wear colors to a wedding instead of black or white, it's a better idea. It might be too much white, you know?
