Does she need to be bounced for daytime naps as well? Does she have any other sleep associations from before besides the bouncing, like pacifier/ white noise? Does she have a solid bedtime routine?

If CIO is not working, I would try something else that is similar to rocking but is easier on you. A swing is a good idea, or if you don't have that maybe you can rock her in the stroller and then transfer? Sometimes with my LO, I have to stand with her and rub her back gently until she is asleep but I make it a point not to pick her up.
Whatever you do, don't go back to the exercise ball! Otherwise it will just get more difficult to break the habit.
Good luck!

Maybe if you didn't do checks she would adapt better? Maybe a few nights of crying but might pay off in the long run. If youre comfortable with it!

Could you start her out in a swing and then transfer her by any chance? Not ideal, but we didn't have a terrible time eventually weaning from the swing.

ugh. I'm sorry! I also have a 6 month old and an almost 3 year old, but my toddler goes to bed first, then I deal with the baby's bedtime. she used to go down easy but lately I'm not sure if it's teeth, nosy, or what, it takes a year and a half. it's draining. the only thing that's worked is wearing her in the ring sling - knocks her out in minutes!

My Lo is 6 months old and up to a week ago I would bounce her on the exercise ball to rock her to sleep. This worked fine when she was little but around 3ish months she started waking 3... 4.... 5.... 6 times a night not to nurse but needing to be bounced. She wouldn't stay down and every attempt became longer and longer. Finally at 6 months we decided to do some CIO. I do the same routine as before just without the rocking but after a week of consistently putting her down and returning to the room for checks and shushing nothing has really improved. She still after a week whines and heavy cries at times for at least 35 minutes and as much as an hour and a half. I feel this isn't working for us but I can't go back to breaking my back on the exercise ball :( I need something easy and consistent for her bedtime (I have a 3 year old to tend to as well) but I just am at a loss of where to go from here :(
