It took a while at first to find the heartbeat at around 10 weeks, but once I did, I LOVED using it and checked her heartbeat every day until I could feel her moving around. The place to find the heartbeat is super low, almost to the...ahem, hairline, and I had more luck on the left side. Just go slowly, poke your stomach with it firmly, and sort of turn it slowly until you pick up the pulse. If you want to make sure you're not hearing yours, what I always did was put the wand on my chest really quickly to hear my own heartbeat and how much slower it was. I watched a couple of videos on YouTube about finding the heartbeat. It took about 10 minutes to find the first time I used it at 10 weeks. I have the sonoline B which was about $50 which I thought was a reasonable price. I got it online and found it very user friendly. They have alot of tutorials online which will help you be able to tell the difference between your heartbeat and the babys.
