I didn't register for any, and somehow nobody bought us clothes! It was great. I really think what helped was using Babylist, I was able to make the registry very clean and organized - and make a note under each item about why it was useful. And I also made sure to include lots of pretty things on the registry - like beautiful blankets, sheets and decor items for her room, and those all got purchased! But I used a site called Babylist to compile everything in one list. Since I was having an out of state shower and most big items would be shipped directly to my home, most of the items were purchased from Amazon or Target (free shipping after a certain amount).<br /> Now that I had my shower, anything left over was then 'registered' to the appropriate store and I can take advantage of the discount. I'm having twins so my baby shower was early and I'm able to still add things to my registry before my completion discount starts.</p> <p>As for clothes, you are going to get clothes. Especially having a girl. There are so many cute dresses and onesies for girls. You'll get NB clothes but you might get other sizes as well. (I'm told you'll change the newborn about 3 times a day so you'll be able to use them. If you really wanted to, you could return them to the store to get another size. I will say that most of my friends who knew they were having girls did get a TON of clothes at their showers and I don't think there's much you can do. The only thing I would suggest is to not put a single piece of clothing on your registries so hopefully that will help people get the point, and make sure they buy something useful if they do go with the registry. </p>
