@hellobeeboston: She always sleeps with her blanket and taggie blanket and a little stuffed dog. So I'm trying to have her adapt those as her "lovey"

She has been doing a little bit better through this weekend. She just doesn't want to be held to sleep anymore., which I'm totally fine with! The last few days she really hasn't cried too much in her crib when i lay her down, so that's progress! She just kind of plays in there a little bit, but then eventually doses off. I think another thing that's adding to this is that she's starting to transition to 1 nap from 2.

Just wanted to wish you luck! I hope you find something that helps; but if you don't, I feel your pain as you ride it out.

I've definitely felt at my limit a few times with my kids' sleep, and then--despite my efforts to get them through it faster--they mostly just seemed to get over it on their own.

My son is almost 3 and still doesn't STTN AND we co-sleep!! (>_<) we also have a 2.5 month old and she sleeps better than he does. what the heck!? So I can totally commiserate with you on the lack of sleep. So sorry girl! Hope it's a phase for you though and things will resume back to normal soon!

We are in the same boat but add 8 months! DS was soo easy to put down (would grab his milk and walk to the crib himself) and now he screams for 20-30 minutes till he gives up and falls asleep. Its rough. I think it may be separation anxiety since he started crying at daycare drops offs too.

We lay next to his crib till he falls asleep. MOTN wake-ups he gets out of his crib and gets in bed with us. I'm not about to fight it then either. I need sleep too!
Naps I've just taken to watching a movie with him on the couch and he falls asleep.

So no advice, just commiseration! And soo hoping its just a phase!

@MrsBrewer: That sounds really rough. We had great success with The Sleep Lady method of sleep training. Its very gentle and focuses on teaching LO how to put themselves to sleep. She also discusses different phases and different ages that may be impacting sleep and strategies to help your LO sleep.

Good luck! I hope you find a solution that works for you soon.

@MrsBrewer: does your LO have a lovey or some kind of soothing method? A little blanket, or a paci, or something like that?? my 8 month old loves his little lovey and having a blanket - when he wakes up - he finds them, and puts them to his face and falls back asleep.... I also use a blanket when hes falling asleep and he likes to hold it as he's falling to sleep then I transfer it with him to the crib... my other son never liked anything like that, but works well with this one.

@MrsBrewer: @mrswin: @tofuwad: Same boat here. My almost 11 month DD has never been a good napper, but has been exceptionally bad lately. Nursing to sleep used to be a guaranteed success, but lately like your LO's she's more interested in crawling all over me and picking my nose. She actually gave me a bloody nose yesterday with a sneak attack finger jammed right up there!

I've had some success with putting her in the carrier and going for a walk, but the trick is I have to get started before she's tired. If I put her in right at nap time she FLIPS OUT.

@MrsBrewer: It sucks. My DD refused to go back to sleep. I can't wait until DH gets home today. I work all week and don't get to see her a ton but then on the weekends I feel like all she does with me is cry. She won't let me hold her, rub her back, anything. It is mentally exhausting and makes me feel like shit and we usually both end up in tears. And then I get angry about it which I know doesn't make any sense.

Sorry to rant but I honestly feel like my kid is the only one that won't nap.

Separation anxiety? Around 1 I had to sit in her room until she fell asleep. It lasted a few weeks.

@tofuwad: omg we have the same baby!!! Lol! My LO squirms SO much and it's so annoying!! I have just been putting her down in the crib as well. It works sometimes, but other times she just screams!

@MrsBrewer: oh my god my daughter has just discovered that my nose has holes and she's obsessed! She also doesn't nurse to sleep unless she's absolutely EXHAUSTED (or it's the MOTN).

That's when I decided to just put her in the crib and walk away. It's hard some nights but it's either that or have her drive-by nursing while she squirms around and plays. And she bites if she wants down! I'm tired.

Same. My 10 month old has totally broken me when it comes to baby sleep. I do what I need to to cope. So for me that means cosleeping when I go to bed. And before that it means doing the routine, nursing and then putting her in the crib for as long as I need. Some nights she cries intermittently for two hours and some nights she falls right asleep. My daughter is happy during the day so I just have accepted that she is legitimately low sleep needs. She regularly has days where she has a single 30 minute nap. I stopped trying to give her two naps like a month ago because the failure and screaming was making me a crazy person.

Ugh and I know two separate 2.5 year olds who still wake up 1-2x per night. And my friend has an 11 month old who has STTN consistently since she was like 3 months old. Ah! Baby sleep is impossible.

@MrsSRS: I've tried the nursing to sleep too, I'm trying anything. She will never fall asleep nursing anymore. She really doesn't even want to nurse. Ugh. That used to be my go to.

@mrswin: yup DD is fussing in her crib right now. I'm on try #3 for a nap today. Both other attempts failed. She has only napped for 15 minutes driving on our way home from church.

LO will be 1 next week, and I'm really hoping this is just a phase. I'm at my wits end though. Going to sleep at night used to be a breeze 10-15 minutes tops. Now I'm happy if she goes down in under an hour. Naps? Ugh don't get me started on naps. She just cries, all the time. She's exhausted, but she doesn't want to be rocked to sleep, she just squirms. So I try to put her down I the crib, and she cries and fusses but still doesn't fall asleep. Sometimes if I'm lucky she will eventually give in.

I just don't know what to do, at the end of the day I'm almost near tears. I'm so frustrated and I'm just getting so mad at DD. It's irrational. It's totally not her fault, but I'm taking it personally like its something that I'm doing wrong.
