Looking for more feedback here - LO is 3 months and we are trying to establish some semblence of a routine but it is hard since he is pretty unpredictable in his sleeping these days.

I started at 8 weeks. It wasn't until 12 weeks that an actual morning wakeup pattern started to naturally emerge. Her bedtime varies, from 6:30-7:30pm, depending on her last nap.

My guy 'expires' (Expires = risk of inconsolable crying that can only be settled by nursing to sleep) at a certain time every night and we know that it is therefore bedtime.

He's been doing this for at least a month, so, at 2.5 months. It is a fairly consistent 8pm and we do our best to support this, so, to put him to bed before he expires. Sometimes he expires earlier and we recently clued-in that his bedtime is directly related to the time he woke up that morning. He needs a bedtime about 12 hours after he woke up, generally.

We started our routine at 2 weeks, but it didnt start to stick until 4 or 5 weeks. We start her bath at 8, then swaddle, then bottle, then bed. We had trouble at first getting her on a set feeding schedule (since we make sure to keep at least 3 hours in between her dinner feeding and bedtime feeding) but now that she's sleeping consistently until 8:00 am, its gotten much easier!

@Nskillet: Sounds like it is working!

Our routine right now is just bottle, swaddle, pacifier, rock in bedroom with nightlight on.

DS enjoys baths so I do them a lot of times during the day. But I think when I go back to work it will be a good thing to do right before bed.

We started when he was about three weeks, but that's because he went down at around the same time every night by himself- we just added a bath to the routine.

Abbey suddenly gave us an indicator of her patterns at around 10 weeks of age. We do the 3 B's Bath, Bottle, Bed. Lately, she has dropped her 2 feedings before bed to 1. She usually eats between 330-4pm at daycare and used to take a bottle around 6ish and then 8-9ish following bath. Lately, she wants a bottle at 730-8ish bath and then bed. We started this and she has slept from 9-5 two nights in a row. She sounds like your son and will only eat if hungry!

We started around 5 weeks, but it helps that we do formula at night. We typically give her a bath and put her pajamas on around 6:00/6:30, give her a bottle around 7 or 8. Then she will sleep until my husband wakes her for a feed around midnight. During this feed she barely wakes up for her diaper change and bottle and pretty much instantly goes into her bassinet afterwards. She tends to sleep until 6 or 7am now at 9 weeks old.

Like I said, it's much easier with formula. I have supply issues and was having trouble producing enough milk for her at night. I hated going to formula, but I suppose this is one of the unexpected benefits.

We started at like 4 weeks, but that was because she had a clear time she would get sleepy every night. She actually started sleeping longer when we put her down earlier.

We start bath at 5:45 and she's asleep no later than 6:30 every night. She does SO well with bedtime. At 4 months, we can put her down awake and she puts herself to sleep without crying and will STTN.

LO is 3 months. She has a bedtime range :) She used to fall asleep between 10:30 and 11:30 but a couple of weeks ago we decided to do more of a daily routine and she is usually asleep by 9:30. Sometimes she'll be asleep by 9 but sometimes later. Tonight she stretched it to 9:45.

Good question, I'm wondering the same myself. M is the same way right now. I'm feeding her every 3 hours at this point and just hope her feeding times correspond with a good bedtime. I am totally subscribing to this thread. :)

DS is 10 weeks and still doesn't have a set bedtime. I really want to establish one, but he's not the type of baby that will have a "last feed" just because it's offered. He really only eats when hungry so I have to time bedtime around a good, last feeding. usually bedtime is around 9/10.

Tonight, he had a really good feed and was super sleepy at 7. But I chickened out and put him in his swing. Partly because I am not ready for bed and do NOT want to miss out on his long sleep stretch. I half-swaddled him and am going to attempt to feed him again before I go to bed. Prolly will backfire!
