But maybe that's just because I'm strongly considering doing the same thing. :wink: I think I'll give it a try soon and just watch him on the monitor for awhile to see how he does with it. It seems like by this age SIDS risk would be pretty darn low for a 1 year old who can pull himself up to his knees and crawl and climb everywhere. Maybe I'll start with it at nap time and see if it helps. We do have one that's small and soft so she plays with that and lies down on it in her play tent. But she doesn't want it for her crib. I'll lay him down to sleep on the pillow, but not even 5 minutes later, he's rolled off of it and sleeps without it. DS is currently 11 months. We moved her to a floor bed, and had a body pillow at the head of the bed just kind of as a barrier against the wall - she started using it as a pillow on her own. At 3 his head is on the pillow about half the time. We moved her to her own twin bed, and she expressed a desire to have a pillow. She's 19 months now and has two full size pillows in her bed. She will move them around, and sometimes hide underneath them.. I think they make her feel safe. By the time she is asleep though she is laying on top of one of them the way she's supposed to. I had originally bought her the clevamama toddler pillow, but she hates it. We put a full size pillow under her crib sheet because she always liked to snuggle with pillows on our bed when we co-slept. When we transitioned to the crib at 13 months we tried the pillow under the sheet and it worked great! She transitioned to a floor bed at 16 months and we continued with the pillow under the sheet. I bought a small pillow for back support while driving but it was too big and made a perfect toddler pillow. I would have felt comfortable putting it in there way earlier though - she's had a blanket with her since before she was 1. If he had been giving me problems, I wouldn't have hesitated to give him one sooner, he just never seemed to need one and doesn't require it right now either. I would say it was like 75% she slept with her head on the pillow. Then around 2 it became more consistent.
