We didn't. Lo was always a good night time sleeper so there was no need to sleep train there. Naps were a different story.... but she worked that out on her own by 8 months.

@MungBean: I feel the same about our "training" previously it took forever and a bottle to get DS to sleep and when we just let him cry a little before bed, he got the hang of it right away. Some nights he doesn't cry at all and some nights he fusses a few minutes but bedtime is MUCH easier.

L's sleep was getting really unbearable so last week, we made the decision to let her cry for a bit before bedtime. She was "trained" (I use this term really loosely because it worked so quickly and I honestly didn't feel like I did anything!) in one day. She cried the first night, but the second night, she was out in about 2 minutes. She is almost 8 months old, and I know some people may think that's too old for sleep training, but for us it worked great - I don't think it would have been this easy had she been much younger.

DS was 8 months and it was so, so hard. DD is now 4 months and has been waking up every 2-3 hours so I'm considering it :( ugh CIO is so difficult though.

We didn't sleep train per se but started letting him cry a little before sleep and naps. Tye problem is that it was taking 1-1.5 hours for us to put him to bed at night...and was waking more often at night. When we "trained" he was just over 4 months and would cry 5 minutes or less and then fall asleep on his own. He still cries before bed but sometimes not at all and is not dependent on a bottle to sleep - and now he wakes once a night. Naps are still crappy. He cries and then falls asleep on his own but takes very short naps.

@mrsaudi: about two weeks later he started sleeping 12 hours straight most 4-5 times per week and the other nights would wake up once. He is 5.5 months now and with teething and having a cold he has been waking up 1-2 times per night, but has been taking longer naps.

We started at 6 months. He did great for a few weeks, never cried for more than 40 min. But then we went on vacation and he got sick. We are going to have to start over when he is better :(

we tried to sleep train at 5 months, it was very unsuccessful, I believe it is because of teething. I would definitely wait until they are 100% healthy and you know they are not hurting!

We sleep trained (CIO) starting the day LO turned 4 months. We also moved him to his own room at the same time. So glad we did both!

3 ish months and it worked great (CIO never took more than 15 min, and after training he fell asleep easily from wide awake) till last week he suddenly won't sleep anymore. now we are thinking of re-training with a different method.
LO will be 5 months next week.

my LO is 4.5 months - was sleeping beautifully, then got 2 teeth at 4 mos, and it all fell apart. We did CIO this week, and it was a horrible two hours on the first night, and basically no crying or waking since then. Now sleeping 10-11 hours, feeding and sleeping a couple more. Hopefully it lasts - at least til the next teeth come

We sleep-trained when LO was 3.5 months and I know that to most people that is really young. My husband and I made a very careful and educated decision to do so and it worked out wonderfully for us.

My LO is 4.5 months and we are considering sleep training very soon. The problem is there are so many changes during the first year between teething, sleep regressions, and growth spurts that there never seems to be a good time to start!

How old was your LO when you started to sleep train?
