D's is almost 9 months and he's not bad yet. I can't imagine my sweet happy snuggly boy being bad either! Lol I'm in for a rude awakening Im sure.
Ohh he does like to sit on his dads lap and bang the keyboard and look at my and smile and then I would tell him no while laughing and he would do it again and again. It was to cute though!

@Mrs. Cowgirl: awesome and awful - explains 3 entirely.

DS was the sweetest little boy!! Everyone always remarked how well behaved he was in public. Then he turned 3. It's been SUCH a difficult age! However, I think I've learned how to handle the disobedience now so when DD turns 3, I can be more prepared.

At one year DD is already trying to test me. She is one opinionated little lady (although still very sweet otherwise). She will definitely throw herself on the ground and scream when I tell her no. She also purposefully tests me sometimes, and thinks it is very funny.

DS started testing the waters at 2, now at 2 years 7 months tantrums happen more than what I would like! Sometimes I can avoid a melt down, other times there is no stopping it depending on how tired/ too much energy/ hungry he is etc.

My daughter on the other hand is a complete different personality, and like you I could never picture her being naughty! We shall see lol

DS didn't start acting out really until about eleven months and then it was mostly just learning boundaries and testing them. Now with DD here, he's definitely acting out more but he's fourteen months, so it may just be a combination of her and his growing personality.

@PrincessBaby: ha ha, I always assumed I'd spank too but now she's here I can't ever imagine wanting to spank her and god help anyone else who tries. I don't know how sweet babies ever turn into naughty, mouthy girls, but I guess they all do to a certain point.

10 months was the first time I knew she knew what no was but she decided to do it anyways. She loves light sockets, so if I'd walk into the kitchen for a minute she'd try to get the covers off the light socket, naughty monkey.

DS isn't 'bad' but he knows when he's doing something he's not supposed to. He'll mock me and go, "uh-uh-uuhh!" and shake his head no while he's doing it.
It's naughty, but I think it's adorable!

My 3 year old hasn't been "bad" yet. He just doesn't want to do things and throws tantrums. But he hasn't outright defied us yet. I know it's coming though. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself.

Mine started to test me at around 8 months. When we would go out to eat, she would try to suck on the edge of the table, and I always told her no. She would do it and be looking at me the entire time, waiting for me to say something. She also does this with her high chair buckle. I just know she's going to be a handful when she becomes a toddler. Oh boy!

She already has a naughty streak at 1 year old. She's crawl over to the entertainment unit, toward the blinky lights, and then she stops and looks over her shoulder to see if anyone is watching. If she catches our eyes, she grins like the cheshire cat! THEN, she decides if she can get there before we can stop her. She's so sneaky but I secretly love it.

I would say that around 18 months they start testing the waters-- for example you tell them not to throw their spoon on the floor and they smile and chuck it. But at that age they really are just checking out how everything works and their impulse control is not good at all (I just stop giving back the spoon).

It probably isn't until 3 that they actually decide to go ahead and disobey you, up until then it is usually lack of impulse control and ability to think things through.

Don't get me wrong though, by 1 you will have moments where you wonder what is going on in her head!

LO is 6 months old and I wouldn't say she acts badly, but definitely has started to "fake" little fits. Sometimes they're pretty hilarious. If she wants something you won't give her, or you take something away - or if she wants to nurse (not hungry) and I give her the pacifier...holy crap. She throws herself and kicks her feet!

So my LO is almost 4 months and is the happiest little girl with a HUGE personality! I cannot imagine her being "bad" when I spend my days knee deep in big gummy smiles, baby giggles, and open-mouth slobber kisses.

When do they start behaving badly?

Eta: obvs I know it will be a while but I'm just wondering when! DH said something about knowing he's going to have to spank a chubby leg a whole lot when she's older(we were both spanked and I always assumed I'd spank) and I just stared at him wide-eyed bc I cannot imagine spanking my sweet girl EVER(!), and I also cannot imagine her doing something that bad- lol! When will my attitude change? Haha
