DD is about to be five. When she was in preschool, they never wiped her and she wiped herself. That resulted in a nasty UTI that lingered for over a month. Since then I haven't let her wipe herself, but Kindergarten is next year and she has to learn.

I still wipe DD (she'll be 4 in March).
I'm thinking she'll be able to wipe herself by the time she's 5.

The two preschools our daughter has attended require kids to be fully potty trained by themselves (pull pants up/down, buttons/snaps, wiping etc). Teachers are not allowed to help.

you have to be fully potty trained by pre-k and charlie was 3 3/4 then. teachers are not allowed by law to go into the bathroom with them.

I think they don't really get good at it until kindergarten (when they are forced to be good at it).

LO is recently potty trained but I still wipe her after she poops. I'm thinking I'll have to teach her how before she starts preschool, but I'm curious what the norm is? How old was your LO when they learned?
