@yin: omg! I can't even remember the last time I stayed up until 2am!! Where do kids find the energy to fight bedtime so much?!

My son will usually ask to go to sleep. Or if he looks tired (usually because he is sick) then I just ask him if he wants to go for his nap and he will say yes and head up to his room. It's sad and cute at the same time!

When LO starts to fall asleep at the table while eating lunch. We limited naps a few months ago, and usually he will fall asleep at dinner if he is super tired. Falling asleep at lunch was a first, and he needed a nap that day. Of course he didn't go to bed until 2am that night...

If he takes a really short nap, like a car nap, I'll lie him down early for his next nap. I haven't found that it messes up his nighttime routine too much. We might put him down 30 minutes earlier or so or just whenever he gets fussy.

A has been super cranky today, so instead of her normal nap around 1:00pm she went down at 12:15. I usually like to stick to the same nap time so that her evening isn't messed up, but today was an exception!
