@photojane: I also felt a small, hard lump when I felt around the area. The pain I'm feeling isn't a constant, throbbing pain but it's definitely very sensitive and tender on that left side. When I spoke with the ultrasound doctor, he said it could be due to increased exercise and he also mentioned caffeine, but I rarely drink coffee or tea so I don't think that's the reason for me at least.

I hope you feel better soon. Maybe it's just an off month?

@Mrs. Pen: That's what I thought! I had a doctor tell me that in high school once when I was having terrible boob pain with PMS. I drink sweet tea ALL the time, so maybe that's it...?

This same exact thing happened to me! I was diagnosed with myalgia which is just medical speak for breast pain. She found that the cause was the amount of caffeine I drink (coffee), so I cut it out of my diet and it's helped a lot. She also suggested evening primrose oil supplements.

My doctor told me that breast cancer isn't a concern when there is pain, if there is a lump - then yes - but even a lump wouldn't be painful. I didn't know that.

Could be a strained muscle, but I think that would have resolved after a few weeks. You could try a warm pack on the area and taking ibuprofen to see if it helps.

@sweet_p: Could you feel anything? Or just the doc? Because I don't feel anything at all.

I think maybe it's just my hormones. I was sick and stuff, so I think I'm just out of whack. I had a wonky period this month too. I really hate to spend all of that money (that we don't have) for nothing. :bummed:

I would have already gone by now...if there is one thing I have learned is that I do not take chances with my health.

I think b/c it's about your breast, best to get checked out asap to be safe, no matter the cost!

I wouldn't wait with the length of something like that. Is there a clinic you can go to that might cost less than an office visit?

I'm actually going through the exact same thing as you right now. I started having pain in my left breast about 2 months ago that would come and go. I went to my GP a few weeks ago and she felt a mass, so I ended up getting an ultrasound and mammogram. Both came back normal, but the area is still pretty tender and painful, so I'm wondering if I need to go see her again. I would get yours checked out too since it's still bothering you.

I agree with @MsLipGloss: since you've had the pain for a few weeks now and it's not going away, I'd call!

Because it's been around for a few weeks (and doesn't seem to be resolving on its own), I would get it checked out. Problems rarely get better with time, and in this case, especially because you have pinpoint tenderness, I would most certainly not wait.

I've been having pain in my left breast for a few weeks now. I thought maybe it was PMS, but the pain stayed around. I've been off my period for over a week now, and it's still hurting. It started as a more widespread pain (aching and some stabbing, similar to PMS symptoms), but now I can point to the exact location. If I press it, it hurts way worse. There's no lump, and no other symptoms, so I'm not worried about breast cancer. But, I'm not breastfeeding, so I'm not sure what it could be..?

Well, I'd have the doc check it out, but we have terrible insurance. I'd have to pay any doctor's visit out of pocket. And, if they decided to do an US or xray, I definitely can't afford that.

How long would you wait out weird pain before getting it checked out? What symptoms would make you worried enough to go in? Anyone have any idea what this pain might be? If I eventually see a doc, should I call my GP or OBGYN?
