Sounds like a great setup and I think could work well for a lot of babies. It would not have worked with my son as he was either bfing, crying or being held whilst sleeping for his first 6 months! Good luck

I totally would and I would have loved the cash and few hours out of the house. As long as baby will cooperate, I would try and swing it. You can always look in to a daycare solution if it doesn't seem to work out but my son as a newborn would have rocked as a "coworker".

Wouldn't work for me. LO has never napped for longer than 30 minutes at a stretch during the day, and when he's awake he wants to be held or talked to constantly. I wouldn't have been able to manage more than 45 minutes of work out of every 2.5 hours.

I never did this, but my Dad had a part time assistant that did. It worked out fine. When they were mobile my Dad built a little half door to the reception area and they had a little play area set up. I think it would have been fine if I had the opportunity with DS2 because he was a really chill baby.

@Mrs. Pickle: My son is 3.5 and has been going to work with me every day since 6 weeks. You'll find a way to make it work if you want it to. He has his own office in the back where I kept a pack n play and now a toddler bed for naps, and I baby wore regularly when he was little. It has a lot of challenges, I won't lie, but he's very comfortable to play by himself now and very social with adults because of it. The baby time period of bringing him was actually the easy part. It's toddlerhood that's been tough.

In theory it sounds like a great set up and I hope it works out good for you! I never would have been able to do this with my first though, she was very fussy and was nursing constantly when she was around me. But it really will depend on your baby's temperament.

I did this with both my girls, I loved it for the most part. I had a great boss who was very flexible and accommodating, M came until she was about 6 months old, and C went until she was 1.5. It was harder when she was mobile, we barricaded the office, but all of our clients loved it!

I had a bouncy chair, and a travel swing for both in the beginning, then moved to a stationary walker (wheels locked), and a pack n play for naps. I also wore both of them often. You just have to find your groove and it will go smoothly 😊

@Mrs. Pickle: I would probably do the opposite, plan for a high needs/colicky baby and then be pleasantly surprised when you have a super easy baby.

I wouldn't have been able to work with my son around, for the first 6 months of his life, but a lot of it was because my husband was insistent that we didn't use swings or motion of any kind for sleep. I should have, but I made it SOOOO hard on myself for no reason.

This NEVER would have worked with DS. I was WAH with him with no help and it was a nightmare. I could only work at night when he slept slightly longer stretches or when DH was home to take care of him.

It could have worked the first 3 months with DD because all she did was sleep. But it would have been difficult after.

I often bring my now 5 month old into work with me and have for the last almost 3 months.

I have a pack and play next to my desk and a vibrating chair and often wear him. The pack and play is nice because he can roll around.

It was a lot easier before he was super into my keyboard and things like that.

I have found that there is some work that I can get done with him around (emails and meetings) and somethings that are harder (phone calls and work in the theater away from my desk). I also often have to take him for a walk to nap because there is too much going on in the office for sleep.

He is a pretty easy going guy and my office is very understanding. Often someone else will holding him for a little if I really need to get something done.

These days I have help about 15-20 hours a week between my husband and babysitters. And I have him in the office an additional 15 or so. It's working out for now. I hope to find a 3 days a week nanny share for when things get busy in the fall.

I feel super luck to work somewhere so flexible.

Good luck!

@Mrs. Pickle: I would definitely look into finding a nanny share or flexible nanny!

Those first months can be crazy and I would have found it hard to concentrate if the baby was around and I was supposed to be working!

Also as mentioned you never know how your baby will act or react! It could work or be a disaster! For me, getting away from the baby is nice for a couple of hours in the beginning! Really helps the sanity, IMO!

On the flip side, sad to hear you guys might be relocating soon :bummed:

I think I will give it a try and if it's a disaster I'll look into something else.

@AmandaB8: @MamaBehr: I think there is a babywearing group in my area. I'll have to get in touch with them!

If I'm still here when she's about 6 months old I was thinking of looking into Mother's Day Out and talking to my boss about a more predictable schedule. I work in real estate so some weeks we are slammed and the others there isn't much going on. That's why I've never had a set schedule. The good thing is my boss is very flexible and loves babies.

i brought my 3 month old probably once a week to my office (had my own room) because DH and i had weird hours. she was pretty easy and didn't cry all the time. if your boss is flexible, i would try it, knowing that i may have to find someone to hire if it isn't working out. i would invest in a good infant wrap and set up expectations with my boss! i would also probably plan on spending an additional hour a day on my own time to accommodate for baby's needs/breaks.

I WOH about 12-15 hours a week. I also work at home 5-10 hours each week too. I do office work and don't take calls. My schedule is never set in advance and the days I work change week to week. When I WOH it's in a home office, just not my home. My hours are 9-12 or 1, very occasionally I'll work until 2.

My boss and I talked about my returning to work after the baby is born today and she told me I could bring the baby to work with me. She has grandchildren so there is a crib upstairs. I'm thinking of taking 6-8 weeks off and my boss is ok with that. Does anyone have any experience taking their baby to work? How did it go? Any tips?

I plan to pursue a FT job once my husband and I relocate, but I have no clue when that will be. He could find a job tomorrow or it could be a year from now. I don't really want to find a daycare spot for LO where we are now since I have no clue when we'll be leaving and since my hours aren't that many and I don't know what days I'll be working week to week.

Am I crazy for thinking this could work? I don't think it will be easy, but I'm hoping LO won't cry the entire time I'm working.
