I live in Duluth which is just north of Norcross! Downtown Old Norcross has some good restaurants. We really like Zapata for Mexican and Mojitos has great Cuban food. If you want to venture into Atlanta, Agave is our absolute favorite (southwestern cuisine)!

@chopsuey: I was going to recommend Korean BBQ too but I much prefer Iron Age!

It looks like you have some great food suggestions already! For night time activities and ideas, check out The Tabernacle (music venue) and the SkyWheel is downtown right now and offers pretty neat views of the city. Too bad the Braves aren't playing, but if your trip gets pushed back they play April 10th in Atlanta.

@Smurfette: it's strange but I feel like I remember getting a really amazing quinoa side dish at Kyma. But I could be confusing it with somewhere else. But it was like, the best quinoa dish I've ever had in my life.

You've gotten some great suggestions so far! Since you'll be in Norcross, if you're looking for a breakfast place there's a Flying Biscuit near the Forum. It's one of my favorite breakfast places. The biscuits and the grits are to die for!

There is this great gourmet deli/bakeshop/cheese shop called Star Provisions about 25 mins from Norcross. They have great sandwiches and lots of fun kitchen/houseware items - almost in the style of Anthropologie. Jeni's ice cream is also right next door. :)

I've been to a handful of really good places in ATL....but I'm not sure any of them are convenient to Norcross.

This place had amazing smoked gouda cheese grits (a very, very Atlanta thing): http://www.yelp.com/biz/two-urban-licks-atlanta

The fried goat cheese balls here really are amazing: http://www.yelp.com/biz/ecco-atlanta

I took my mom here last year and she loved it! http://www.yelp.com/biz/aria-atlanta

This place was really good for upscale Mediterranean: http://www.yelp.com/biz/kyma-atlanta

And I second Café Intermezzo and Eclipse de Luna--my mom just loves that place, so I've been three times. We also went to this great place with one of Dh's friends, but I can't even remember what neighborhood it was in, so I can't look it up, haha. Edit: pretty sure that place is Canoe: http://www.yelp.com/biz/canoe-atlanta-2?page_src=related_bizes

@krispi: I was gonna say Eclipse de Luna - we go there all the time! But I didn't say it because that's my part of town lol. There is a cafe intermezzo right at that plaza too so you can eat tapas first and then go for coffee/dessert. haha.

And ditto to honey pig @chopsuey: ! So good.

If you want to stay local to Norcross, they have good shopping at the Forum, and there are some pretty good places to eat there too. You won't be too far from Northpoint if you take back roads. There's a great place to eat over that way called Stoney River. It's a little pricey, but the food is wonderful.

I agree with the other suggestions for venturing in town, and I have a few to add. Anise is a great little French place in Buckhead. Agave and Six Feet Under are more on my side of town (just south of the city), but you'll get to see the historic Oakland Cemetery across the street. The Brickstore in Decatur is good if you like a large beer selection, but it can get crowded. Eclipse de Luna is my favorite place for tapas, and they have a location near Perimeter Mall that wouldn't be a bad drive for you. Speaking of which, there are several places around Perimeter Mall that you might want to check out. I think that would be easier for you to get to than Lenox.

I am not familiar with Norcross either, but I agree you should check out buckhead - they recently revamped the entire area and it has fancy shops and dining there. You are in the right place when you see a gigantic Restoration Hardware "showroom" on Peachtree Street (more like show-mansion).

Other than that I always love hanging out at Cafe Intermezzo. They have one in midtown, one in Dunwoody and one even at the airport. I assume most hip people go to the one in midtown. People hang out there for coffee and drinks late (after partying?) .

Then there is Bacchanalia if you want fine dining. Very expensive but food is superb. I never go there anymore after I have a child :crying: Also in the midtown area. You have to call and make reservation now though.... not sure about now but they used to be booked weeks in advance.

Oh you can check out virginia highlands too! Almost forgot about that. They have tons of restaurants there and shops to walk around. There is a tapas place there called Noche that is very nice and delicious.

Ah I wish I have more tips but I really don't go out much anymore especially after becoming a mom....I have other places in mind too but they are more around my neighborhood...

ETA: You have to remember Atlanta Traffic can be very horrible though... so if you work at Norcross and want to go buckhead/midtown/downtown after you get off work, please make sure you check traffic or else you'd get extremely frustrated. Haha.

I don't know many places in Norcross. But there are so many restaurants in Atlanta that are amazing. Some of my favorites: Six Feet Under, JCT Kitchen, Pure Taqueria, Food 101, One Midtown Kitchen, Kyma, Coast, Hals, and Optimist.

Casual places: Mellow Mushroom and Taco. Trying to think of non chain places....

Do not go to the Cheesecake Factory, I repeat NO Cheesecake factory. I never understand why it is always packed when there are so many amazing restaurants in Atlanta. Desserts are Cafe Intermezzo are way better too!

I'm not familiar with norcross, but can't go wrong with any of the buckhead life restaurants (atlanta fish market, veni vidi vici, etc), tin lizzy's for tacos, anticos for pizza, and south city kitchen are just a few of my faves!!

I'm headed to Atlanta in 2 weeks without my LO for a business trip. I'll be there all week on the company dime and would love to hear about great restaurants and any kind of fun evening activities. I'll be staying somewhere near Norcross but will have a rental car.
Thanks!
