I follow attachment parenting because it is the only thing that described my baby. He is a high needs infant. I tried many philosophies and that one worked.

@Mrs. Jacks: Agreed. We follow the general philosophy of fostering a strong parent-child attachment, but how we put those philosophies into practice vary from some of the mainstream views on what attachment parenting "should" be. Kinda like my views on religion, lol.

I don't know that attachment parenting is such a new concept as much as it has been kind of branded and re-packaged as a new concept. I mean, my mom breastfed/co-slept/baby wore and she was born in 1956. I do the same thing, but it's mostly because it makes sense to me because it's how I was raised and what I saw her do with my younger siblings.

And it's really a spectrum. I think that it's going a little overboard to never say the word "no" or not babyproof your house because you'll never be away from the child's side (just some of the more extreme interpretations of ap), but you can take as much or as little as works for you and your family :)

@Mrs. Jacks: Lol, I think you're the latter. :)

@LivsMama: Attachment parenting just happened to embody some of the parenting ideas/beliefs that felt natural to me. I believed in attachment parenting long before I knew there was a name for it!

I have this theory that attachment parenting is becoming more popular as those of the Millennial Generation come of age and start having kids because of Millennials unique beliefs about parent-child relationships and communication. So I thought I'd test my theory on HB. :)

If you subscribe to attachment parenting ideals (you don't have to follow attachment parenting exactly, but if you identify with the attachment parenting movement or consider yourself an attachment parent) what year were you born?
