Or try setting which focus spot you want the camera to use. I also like to over expose my photos. One thing I noticed in your pictures you posted was that it looks like for some reason you camera is focusing on that stuffed animal rather than the face. I only have my basic kit lens,which has an aperture of 4 I think and I really wanted an aperture of 1.8!
