I have no idea but pretty much everything is these days, right? Don't stress though. Whenever I'd go to Catholic mass I'd always know 90% of the words already from being Episcopalian!

@sloaneandpuffy: I'm sure we will; I'm genuinely excited. Do you think the Book of Common Prayer is available online to skim?

Our neighbors across the way (college seniors that share a place) threw a party last night, so I had a horrible night of sleep, due to tons of noise. Unfortunately, I just couldn't muster up the strength to make the service this morning, so we're definitely going next weekend!

PS you can buy a Book of Common Prayer if you liked it and plan to go back. It has all the different liturgies.

Sorry I missed this yesterday! I grew up in the Episcopal church. I'm sure as a Catholic it was all extremely familiar! How did it go?

I have two sisters that are Episcopalian. I'm catholic. I think you will be able to follow along. At our church we have pew cards tat help us know the responses. You might want to flip through the hymnal and see if they have an order of service in there. Also, if all else fails, sit in the back so you can watch what others do. Good luck!

We are Methodist, but I've always heard Episicopal is Catholic lite and Methodist is Episcopal lite... Not sure if there's any truth to that though!
You will be more nervous and conscious of what you don't know than anyone else! I'm sure they will be friendly and excited to see new faces, my church has a welcoming committee to greet new members.
Good luck!

My husband and I are going to be attending church tomorrow morning for the first time in a very long time. Both of us were raised Catholic, but lapsed in our faith, independently, and well before we began dating. We discovered that many of our personal beliefs and political leanings didn't align with our particular parish, so we lost touch, and have since considered ourselves non-practicing.

I've long been looking to return to a church community. I've recently felt more spiritual, especially after becoming pregnant, and anticipating a new addition to our family and life together. After some research and feedback from friends, I feel that the Episcopalian church might be an excellent fit for us.

That being said, I am rather nervous. We're pretty familiar with most of the motions of Catholic mass, but it's been a while, and we're both very out of practice. We'll be attending the family service, which includes a variety of music and readings.

Can any Episcopalians, or those familiar with the faith, walk me through what to expect tomorrow? What should I look for in order to decide if this might be a good decision for our family? Any thoughts, feedback, or advice?

Thanks!
