@NYCaliMama: thanks! I started another thread but I am leaning toward getting this bed: http://www.landofnod.com/petite-marguerite-bed/f4546 and I see that they sell guard rails with it. Kinda pricey, though. I'll check out the Ikea option! I also wonder if the pool noodle is enough and does it really fit under the sheet? Her current sheets are so tight that no pool noodle could fit under there!

here are two options:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30099293/

http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/universal-guardrail/

there's also the kind that you can put under the fitted sheet. I've been eyeing this inflatable one that would be great for traveling. They sell them at One Step Ahead or Amazon. Mrs. Bee also blogged about the idea of putting a pool noodle under the sheet... I thought that was clever. Not sure if it would protect the really super active kids from falling though?

I wanted something nicer but our LO is sleeping in a full sized bed so we had to get him an extra long rail. The only ones I've seen that are extra long are the ugly mesh ones. =\

@regberadaisy: I definitely want something like that versus the mesh ones. thanks!

@purrpletulips: no, she doesn't move around but she likes to sleep right up against one side of the crib so I think having a guard rail will sort of mimic the crib and hopefully she'll like it? LOL.

Is your LO very mobile while sleeping? The twin bed we are using had built-in/removable rails (http://www.thisendup.com/product/2/ClassicSolidEndDaybed.htm) so we didn't have to buy one but since DD tends to stay put once asleep we didn't put the outside one on the bed (this allows DH and I to sit on the edge of the bed with her during story time). When we converted the crib to toddler bed we didn't put up a rail either. So far DD has been in a bed without rails for about 3m now and hasn't fallen out yet.

These are better than your atypical white mesh ones!

I am going to order a twin bed for DD and transition her out of the crib soon. I'll have one side pushed up against the wall but I want to put up a rail on the other side so she doesn't fall out of bed (we are not doing a floor bed). Do anyone of you have something that is cute/doesn't make it look too much like a hospital bed?
