@anbanan15: Oh wow, that sucks. Glad you were able to return it and get something you were much happier with!

Hmmm, interesting. I might head to the store and check them both out side by side. Amazon reviews are great, but hard to judge, you know?

@Adira: Yup we used the seal. That's where they leaked from. I think I just got a busted pump and parts.

@anbanan15: I never had bottles leaking - were you using the seal? I know when I forgot to use the seal once, it did leak.

Also, to set the pump to the right suction/speed is a manual thing, but once you have it set, it remembers your suction/speed, so you don't have to do the manual business anymore. You just hit a button and it goes. BUT, there's also no different suctions/speeds because of this. I know some pumps have a letdown button that goes faster or slower or something. You'd have to do that manually with the Avent (at least on my version).

Well, I don't know anything about the Medela, but I have an Avent pump and I like it. :) I have an older version because my SIL gave it to me, so I'm sure newer ones are even better. My pump works great though and I like how it has the petal flanges that massage your breasts while it pumps. And it's convenient that I can pump directly into the same bottles that Xander takes at daycare, so I don't have to do much transferring.

The only thing with Avent that might be a concern (that I can think of) is that it only has two different sized flanges, the normal and a larger one. So if you did end up needing a smaller size, I think you'd be out of luck (unless other flanges fit the Avent, I'm not sure).

The Avent double electric was my original pump. It crapped out on me after not even a month of use. You have to start pumping manually and the lever that you use to do that malfunctioned in the down position which painfully pulled my nipples hard into the pump. The bottles also ALWAYS leaked when in the fridge cooling before freezing (we never used them for feeding, so I'm not sure if they would have leaked with a nipple on them, but did with the cap).

Luckily BBB allowed me to exchange it due to a manufacture defect and I got the Medela PISA. I didn't think I would be pumping as much as I did, as I only work part time, but quickly wished I would have gotten the Medela Freestyle.

So, I've been convinced throughout this whole pregnancy that the Medela Swing is *the* breast pump I want to buy (or the Harmony - I don't plan to pump much).
However, I was just gifted a set of Avent natural bottles, and the Avent pumps fit right on to the tops of the bottles, which is super handy. But I haven't heard ANYTHING about the Avent pump - does anyone have any experience with it? Should I stick with my original, and just transfer pumped milk?
