This year we got COLA which I think was 2%. I've only gotten bigger raises when my responsibilities increased. However, I think we're due for bigger raises this year b/c our institution is trying to re-adjust salaries over the next 5 years to match our peer institutions. (We lag behind right now.) This year it was 3.5%, but it was nothing for 2-3 years prior to that. We do receive automatic annual 5% increases during the first five years of employment {step/column increases}, and another 5% at every 5 year anniversary {5, 10, 15, etc.}. This is the first adjustment since I started working for the government. Fortunately, since I'm relatively new, I've had grade and step increases so I can't complain too much, but I know a lot of people who are completely maxed out and hadn't gotten any sort of raise in years. Our company doesn't give out yearly raises to everyone just because. You have to earn them.. no COLA! We do all get small yearly bonuses though, but they're usually $500 or less. I don't remember seeing a maxiumum level in our policy. I know we have a range of how high your personal performance and company performance can contribute to your raise and bonus. Though my company recently increased the company performance number because of how well the company has done. I have been averaging 5%. We also have free health insurance, and company matching 401k, and 10% bonuses.
