Like others have said. I would listen to your body. Don't go out and run 5 miles straight out of the gate. As long as you aren't in pain and you don't start bleeding then you should be fine.

@Kbee: good, I'm glad to hear that you're at least being seen! And yes, they should take you on. When you call, I would just explain that you are a new patient and that you recently had a miscarriage that you need follow up care for. Hopefully, they can get you in for a baseline appointment, even if you're being seen at the hospital. That way, you can have someone to call when you get your next (hopefully sticky!) :bfp: !

@winniebee: True, maybe there's a possibility of more bleeding if my hcg is still elevated.

@lovelyplum: Thanks  I don't have an OB yet, but the doc in the ER is having me follow-up in the obstetrics clinic in the hospital. I'll go back every Friday to get my blood drawn until HCG is at 0. But starting tomorrow, I am on the search for an actual OB (hopefully they will take me on as a patient even if I am not pregnant?).

I'm so sorry for your loss :(

I would say in this case that the best thing to do is listen to your body. I've had 2 early losses, and my body responded differently after each one. After the first, I was able to do normal things relatively soon after I stopped bleeding. The second, though, took a lot longer to bounce back from physically, and I wasn't able to do any real exercise for a few weeks.

You mentioned that you don't have an OB yet-are you planning on finding one soon? My OB wanted to follow up with me to make sure that my HCG returned to 0 and that I didn't have any other complications after the loss. It might be worthwhile to either find a new doctor or visit your PCP to make sure everything is OK.

I hope you get your sticky baby soon!

@Kbee: it seems like you would be in the clear but maybe there is a risk for bleeding until your hcg is back to 0?

Thanks @winniebee and @singingbee! I guess it does sound like an obvious answer (ie. bleeding), but because I haven't had any bleeding in 12 days, I suppose I was just a little confused that the doctor recommended that.

I'm sorry for your loss. The activity can aggravate the bleeding, plus things are kind of shifting around so that's why you want to avoid the activity for a while.

I'm sorry for your loss :(

I was given the same instructions when I had mine. It is because strenuous activity can increase your bleeding. I was advised to take it easy for a week.

I have already been diagnosed as having a miscarriage, and the doctor I saw in the ER (on 3/26 - went for extreme pain but no bleeding) believes it occurred 3/16 when I thought I was just having my period. My discharge papers said to avoid strenuous activity. If I've already miscarried (and hcg went from 208 to 128 a few days ago), then why would I need to avoid strenuous activity? And when can I start again? I'm very active, and am itching to get back into my physical activity routine after this week!! Any thoughts?

I hadn't found an OB yet, so I don't really have a provider to ask this question!
