I had awful headaches too, and I felt so guilty about taking meds (unnecessarily guilty since doctors say they are ok- it was just crazy preggo hormones!) What helped me finally was acupuncture! It took a few weeks of treatments and then I didn't have a headache for like a year- amazing.

Sorry you are suffering! I experienced the same thing. I had headaches with my first pregnancy, but the second has been way worse. For some weird reason drinking something really cold (slurpees or watermelon slushes that I occasionally make) give me some relief of headaches (and also nausea). I think my headaches/migraines were also allergy related, but during my first trimester I was still breastfeeding LO #1 and was afraid the allergy meds would kill my supply. I hope you get some relief soon.

I had a week of migraines in the 6th week. I think I posted on here in desperation and @MsLipGloss suggested calling my OB and asking about Fioricet. It totally stopped the migraine cycle and I was migraine free until the third tri.

@wonderstruck: I take a hot shower and let the water beat on my face and at the base of my skull/shoulders. Then I take the rapid-release Tylenol with a cup of hot water and then lay down in a dark room with 2 gel ice packs (the kind that are squishy). I place one at the base of my skull and I place one over my eyes/brow bone. I also put a pillow under my knees and elevate my legs a little. I don't know why, but that usually relieves my headache in about 20-30 minutes, or at least helps me doze off for a while. I keep like 4-6 of those icepacks in my freezer at all times for this exact reason.

Another helpful thing if it's sinus related pressure is to put a heat pack (like the microwavable rice kind) on your forehead. Just make sure it's not so hot it's uncomfortable.

@wonderstruck: I had it with my first pregnancy even though I never had allergies. Sure enough it hit me again. It takes about 3 days for the claratin to get built up in your system. Neti Pot also really helps.

No real advice, other than to commiserate! I try and stay hydrated but it is hard. I did try smartwater and that helped a bit. I also did the neti pot last week and that helped but my headaches feel mostly sinus related.

@T.H.O.U.: Just talked to her and that's exactly what she recommended. Fingers crossed that it helps! It does seem to be intensified behind my eyes, so definitely a possibility.

@Mrs. Champagne: Interesting! I'll give it a shot if the allergy meds don't help.

@wonderstruck: My pregnancy headaches are related to sinus pressure. Even though I don't feel it in my nose, it builds up behind my eyes and gives me headaches. I never have allergies but I know that is what its from.

Talk to your OB about trying an allergy pill. If I stay on top of claritin daily I am fine. Occasionally I add a bit of tylenol or sudafed as needed after that.

@raspberries: I'm throwing up a lot, so I'm sure I'm dehydrated...but they're not any better or worse when you compare the days I'm drinking plenty of water to the days I throw up constantly, so I'm not sure there's a connection there. Usually accupressure does help my headaches, but this week nothing has worked!

My doctor has said that some headaches may be caused by mild dehydration - maybe make sure you're drinking enough water? You could also try shiatsu or acupressure! (Sorry, not surefire advice, but I figured it couldn't hurt to pass that on.) Sorry you have to deal with this - ugh!

I experienced this somewhat with my first pregnancy, but it's SO MUCH WORSE this time! I get horrible headaches that often become migraines, and it happens every single day - this has been going on for over a week now!

I'm desperate for relief and hoping for some advice. It's not a caffeine headache, and it's not helping to take some Tylenol and lay down in a dark quiet room, which is typically my go-to method for getting rid of headaches. I'm having an awful time taking care of L because I'm just in agony from the afternoon until DH gets home at 6:30 and I finally get to go lay down (which helps a bit in that moment because there's no light and sound aggravating it, but the second I get up the headache is back full force.)

Suggestions?? Please!
