@MrsADS: At about 18 weeks, I needed my husband to help me into bed because I was in so much pain. Felt like someone was pulling me apart. Seems like it was a combo of relaxin/overdoing it and growing pains. After 72 hours, it was gone.

YES. I had the same thing around the same time. I found that when I was able to get back to regular exercise (bike riding for me) it mostly went away. But not totally.

I wore an SI belt after having E that was very helpful. My pelvis was twisted and kept popping out. Plus I had some herniated disc issues

@MrsADS: I had the same thing- it was SI joint related, and was completely awful. Got better around 25 weeks (?) and only came back at the very end of my pregnancy. It was pretty terrible, and it was the worst part of pregnancy. I really hope yours gets better soon!!

Thanks all! Obviously the pain is better when I lay around all day but I DON'T think that's healthy. Will call the OB and get her recommendation. Sounds like a bit of PT or something like that would really help.

Go see a Chiro who specializes in pregnancy! It will help SO much!

I've had some pain off and on, and my doc says just listen to my body and lay off when I need to. I feel really lazy, but doing to much results in bad sciatica.

Another vote for PT. I had horrible SI issues in my second pregnancy and nothing else helped. My pain didn't go away completely until delivery, but PT made it manageable.

So you have the hormones that are loosening and relaxing all your joints, lower back pain is super common. I had terrible back pain the first time I was pregnant, and eventually had a few sessions with a chiropractor that specialized in pregnancy adjustments.

I was pretty nervous because I'd never been to a chiro before (and haven't been since!) but he was really gentle, nothing hurt at all, and my back pain was totally gone by my second session.

I had the exact same thing and went to a Physical Therapist for most of my second trimester. It seriously was the best decision ever. The pain was better after one visit and after a couple weeks was completely gone, I continued going to make sure it stayed gone, but I would definitely recommend it!

After Googling, my pain is right around the sacroiliac joint. Back of pelvis.

Hi all! I'm almost 15 weeks along. I have noticed in the past few weeks after I exercise (I try to walk 2-3 miles a few times a week), do a lot of housework, cleaning, basically do anything more than just sitting around, I get TERRIBLE pain in my low back... although honestly, it's more almost to the left of my tailbone. It sounds like it may be posterior pelvic pain?

I have not gained much weight and I'm not that big so although I know there can be some pulling/stretching, it seems a little early for such severe pain!

Today, I did a lot of housework, carrying laundry up and down the stairs, etc., then my husband and I walked about 3 miles. Now, I can barely move  I got up from the couch just now and I almost fell over, the pain took my breath away.

I am going to call my ob tomorrow, because this seems excessive! I have NEVER had back pain in my life. My level of activity is not any more than pre-pregnancy, I'm not running or doing any kind of intense exercise. Has anyone else had an experience like this?
